They don't *really* want all of that I-130 info for the K3 again... do they?! Form I-129F

Hello VJers!

So my wife and I received our first and NOA on our i – 130 application. We are discussing the K3 now, as we've been apart since September 2013, and I was looking at the requirements for things needing sent for the I-129F:

Do we really need to submit another entire set of copies of the same stuff we just sent for the I-130? I mean what choice do I have really because, well, them's the rules apparently, but... seriously?

I would not bother with the K3, it will be adjudicated the same time as your I-130.

I've seen other folks who filed k3 but once their I-130 got approved, the I-129 is cancelled. I'm not sure if k3 is still available though.

The answer to the question you actually asked is: yes. They do want all that information, documentation and evidence again.

Essentially you're filing a petition for a completely different visa, and in theory (braces for the incoming knee jerk responses) they're processing them separately, as though they were completely unrelated.

So hopefully you made extra copies of everything you sent the first time, 'cause you're about to send it all in again... Except to Texas this time instead of Chicago!

It does seem as though a few people are getting through NVC with their I-129f and it's going to the consulate. It's just possible that those people will actually get to go forward with their K-3 and be with their spouses sooner!
