What do you think makes a woman want to have an abortion?

Lets all stop and reflect on this for just a second. "You lefties like to lump all Republicans together."

CVOR, there you go again. On here?

I guess, thinking more on the topic, I would vote for pro choice. You got pregnant by a guy you don't want to spend the rest of your life with, and now you want to terminate the pregnancy? Fine. But YOU pay for it. No reason I can see for it to be subsidized by the American public. You're on welfare, and you got pregnant, but the father of your third child doesn't want to support you? No problem, we'll help you. But it will be a combined abortion/tubligation.

I have no idea how many abortions I help pay for with my taxes each year, but I'm sure it's too many.

Ah, F it, I'd rather pay for an abortion than a life long support bill. If that's the deal breaker, put it on my tab.

Well, I'll be sure and send you the bill for my next abortion. And I archived a copy of this thread so you can't renege.

So pay for it yourself or be sterilised about sums up your opinion.

That right there sounds like the sort of freedom the US goes to war with defend. Not.

Disgusting.

The mind boggles.

It's not a question of being proud - it's a personal, very difficult decision made by individuals for personal reasons. The choice exists as a matter of practicality - what anyone thinks about that is irrelevant.

I was not the one who implied anyone was proud of these decisions. You mentioned that this was a "responsible" choice, which I took as something you thought in some way would be a matter of pride, as most responsible decisions are indeed a matter of pride.

Again, I think I was clear your statements were not to cleverly worded. Thus it is not impossible I have misunderstood you. However you said you felt rape victims had a great reason to seek an abortion but went on to muddy your point apparently indicating that you didn't think an accidental pregnancy from consenting sex was good enough reason.

Your comments indicated that you fall far short of being able to call yourself pro-choice. But that you want to claim you are because you believe rape victims have valid reason to get an abortion. That makes your position somewhat more enlightened than the 'legitimate rape' crowd but hardly pro-choice.

I still say you must be confusing me with someone else. I do not even understand your first paragraph.

In addition I do not believe I ever mentioned rape victims in any post. In any case, of course rape victims should have unrestricted access to abortion. I have news for you: I probably have a more liberal position on abortion than any of you self-styled liberals.

Just dishing out a little taste of the opposing viewpoint's own medicine. Probably should refrain from that since irony is lost on most ravers and ranters on this site...

You present your opinions as facts, as the left is so apt to do... I happen to agree with your first sentence, but those rights don't have to outweigh the rights of the fetus, and many rational people would disagree with your (and my) opinion. But I do believe your rationale for your opinion is incorrect, as people obviously shouldn't procreate if they do not want, or cannot afford, children.

All rights then.

Your first post that caught my attention. "...People shouldn't procreate. .." NOT a particularly liberal point of view. People very often have sex just for sex. There are no qualifications needed to have sex and not desire going through with an unplanned pregnancy as a result.

I did however confuse your comments with a rape comment by DavenRoxy. Sorry about that.

Semantics. It is a responsible choice. If you get pregnant and for whatever reason having a child is not a good option, either for you or the child then abortion can be a reasonable choice.

If you want to start cherry picking scenarios or wagging your finger about others sex lives, knock yourself out. It's irrelevant.

You comment is essentially reasonable until your concluding sentence.

I realize it is your style to get the last word in on all these posts, but... I ain't waggin' any finger, so don't presume to know me or anyone else you interact with only on these forums.

I think your use of "responsible" is inappropriate and is a somewhat loaded word. I can make a simple true, unassailable statement that it is irresponsible to be having sex without precautions (yes, I know people do "it" all the time, but this doesn't change the facts that it is the height of irresponsibility), and yet you jump all over it. And the fact that you cannot accept this point makes me feel the rest of your viewpoints are irrelevant on this issue. You would rather engage/divert me with "semantics" rather than facts. What happens after this act of irresponsibility is a different story, and I think abortion may often be the only acceptable choice, however even you must admit it is only the best of several terrible choices.

PLease, don't come off like an abortion does the average child a favor.

We have people traveling all the way to central Africa to have a child to care for.... lets not play like abortion is the childs "best" option.

In almost every case, it is all about the self centeredness of the mother.

Case closed.

Again you are trying to use semantics to get around your alleged pro-choice point of view while expressing your actual point of view. It is possible to take responsible precautions and still wind up with an unplanned pregnancy. Getting pregnant can be an issue of bad luck, not solely one of irresponsibility.
