But I ask so what

Guess who I generally don't find attractive

Stick thin white blonde women with Big boobs

Indian women..( Not native American)

Does not mean they are not-- Just means I am not into them. Lots do find them attractive

How do you know? Do you think I believe that abortion should have no restrictions whatsoever? I certainly don't.

However, the Republican position on this issue IS driven by people who oppose abortion for religious reasons. They do not care about the rights of women to have control over their own bodily processes for any reason whatsoever.

Politicians should not try to legislate articles of religious faith, its backward.

I never said anything about you believing abortions should not have any restrictions.

You lefties like to lump all Republicans together as it furthers your incorrect narrative, insisting that we are all against it for everyone in every instance. Sorry, but that ain't the truth for the vast majority of Republicans. And for the record, I happen to be pro-choice.

But the "controlling one's body" meme is #######. That is not the reason why abortion should be legal. As a matter of fact I think that common line of reasoning is counterproductive and feeds some of the opposition. Even people that support abortion have to realize that we are talking about two (at least potential) lives, here. It is selfish to ignore that and solely focus on the mother. Also: the issue is NOT primarily about women's rights. It is about what is right for society.

I love that Danno agrees with that post since his sole position on the issue, as far back as I can remember is that women should be forced to undergo unwanted pregnancies so the child can be adopted out.

The ONLY thing that's 'good for society' here is that women are free to make their own choices and that the welfare system and social service infrastructure isn't overloaded with unwanted children brought into the world out of some sense of some misguided sense of moral obligation.

If that is true, your party was hijacked by a minority.

You present your opinions as facts, as the left is so apt to do... I happen to agree with your first sentence, but those rights don't have to outweigh the rights of the fetus, and many rational people would disagree with your (and my) opinion. But I do believe your rationale for your opinion is incorrect, as people obviously shouldn't procreate if they do not want, or cannot afford, children.

People often have sex, not for procreation, but simply to have sex. If abortion is outlawed the rights of the mother are clearly trumped by the lack of ability to not procreate. You appear to think you have cleverly worked around your desire to end abortion but in fact you have not.

I've yet to hear any argument along those lines that doesn't try to force women to 'take responsibility' for having sex by having unwanted children.

These people fail to recognise that abortion is a means of taking responsibility. Its not a solution for everyone or every situation but it exists as a matter of necessity.

You obviously don't read posts and threads completely before jumping in. Not only I am pro-choice (as I have stated) your post makes no absolutely no sense.

Both women and men should take responsibility when having non-procreative sex by using contraception.

Yes I guess in some way abortion is a bottom of the ninth inning attempt at taking responsibility to some degree, but this is hardly a matter of pride (as most "responsible actions" would be). In the vast majority of instances, it shouldn't come down to that...

In the vast majority of instances, it doesn't. While there is a lot of noise on this issue by politicians trying to buy easy votes, the reality is this is not a go to solution for women for lots of very sensible reasons.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

It's not a question of being proud - it's a personal, very difficult decision made by individuals for personal reasons. The choice exists as a matter of practicality - what anyone thinks about that is irrelevant.

Again, I think I was clear your statements were not to cleverly worded. Thus it is not impossible I have misunderstood you. However you said you felt rape victims had a great reason to seek an abortion but went on to muddy your point apparently indicating that you didn't think an accidental pregnancy from consenting sex was good enough reason.

Your comments indicated that you fall far short of being able to call yourself pro-choice. But that you want to claim you are because you believe rape victims have valid reason to get an abortion. That makes your position somewhat more enlightened than the 'legitimate rape' crowd but hardly pro-choice.
