Plz suggest as per your real experience or others's experience,

How many days/months needed when PD becomes Current in 2012, 2013, or 2014 years. (mine is supposed to be current in July 2014) --> to getting the Immigrant Visa in Hand - For an Indian (Hyderabad), 31 yrs old ?

Visa Type: FB1 (Family based, above 21yrs, Unmarried Son of a US Citizen)

Like what all needs to be done (after the PD is current) and how much time each process takes ?

Plz give your experiences, also do provide your year when you got started the process and when you got the Visa after the interview.

I am at a cross roads, need to Marry soon, but need to decide on the visa as well. Plz Help :-(

Friends please Help ! I need wait times when the PRIORITY DATE becomes current (and we submit all the required docs before the PD) -> till we get the Immigrant Visa ?

This is in regards to FB1 (Family based visa, Sons of USC over 21 yrs, unmaried)

Google "visa bulletin" and look at the F1 category for India. You will find the current PD and determine how long those people have been waiting. Then you can guess when your PD might become current.

you wait until your date becomes current via the visa bulletin dates. After that your petition is pulled and processed like any other petition. You finish the paperwork ( like a current I864 ) and then get in line for an interview at the embassy. Any AP times typical for your country are also after the visa is approved.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

hi

nobody can tell you exactly because of the different factors, probably 6 months or less. it depends on when does the NVC contact the petitioner, when the NVC starts requesting payments, forms and documents, when the parent pays and sends everything, when the case is completed and it takes around 1 to 3 months for the interview.

so if you're thinking about getting married, calculate for next year.

you cannot marry until you enter the US. then you can return to India to marry your girlfriend

Thanks for the reply, Can I get the time range from from PD becomes current to getting the visa in hand in home country (like 15 days to 6 months etc) from probably an Indian with similar FB (Family based) visa.. Any other inputs please.

If you go to the timeline function here you can look at any I130 pased petition and look at the dates post NVC and they all should be about the same if you search by your embassy

Thanks for the hint, I hardly got couple of timelines with similar visa category ie F1 (FB1) and from INDIA. So can we get some stats may be from USCIS for average time taken these days from PD becomming current --to--> getting the Visa (in home country) ?

What is your priority date?

@ apple21: My PD is June 2007

Also My case in USCIS Case status page is Post Decision Activity, what does that mean ?

Now can you tell me going by the current average speed when I may get the IL and Visa in hand (Supposing I submit all my required docs by end of March14).
