RFE-Should I or Should'nt I?

First of all, let me say that this is a great board. I received an RFE for additional evidence and I am wondering if I should send photos of our "ceremonial" wedding. We had a purely ceremonial wedding in the Phils so that her family and friends could attend...this was not a legal wedding....no marriage license....just for show if you will. So, the question is should I send in the photos of this "wedding" or do you think they might think that we have already legally married and therefore cause a delay in obtaining the K-1?

By the way, my fiance' has been living in Spain for 8 years and has dual citizenship for Spain and the Philippines. We are going through the US Embassy in Madrid.

Would appreciate anyones thoughts on this.

I will assume your RFE came from CSC so the Madrid consulate is not even involved yet. Right?

Since you are filing a petition for K-1, I would be very careful about sending photos that might even hint at marriage. While you might understand that it is ceremonial in nature, do not expect someone in California to understand the tradition and culture in which it was performed.

YMMV

No way in Hades I'd send photos that even HINT that you had a 'ceremonial' wedding.

They may just send you a ceremonial denial.

daileydiver,

I know a guy who submitted photos of his 'ceremonial wedding' with his I-129f, on the theory that it would show the seriousness of the relationship. Then he spent 3 months collecting evidence in response to an RFE asking for proof that he was not already married.

Don't send photos of the "ceremonial" wedding.

However, ordinary photos of the two of you together are OK.

Remember Murphy's Law. If anything can go wrong, it will.

Don't send any photos of what looks like a marriage.

Thanks for the replies. Everyone's thoughts echoed my own, but I thought I would throw it out there and see what the consensus was. I wish I had of found this board earlier and I might not have recieved the RFE. I submitted several pics of us together along with the other required documents. I thought would have been enough, so this time I am sending copies of passports and some other receipts with both of our names on them.

Thanks for the replies
