Hi everyone, my time is quickly coming to file for citizenship. I am eligible to apply this April. My question is this, I have been reading the form and am confused on where to file. We live in PA but my husband is currently in the national guard. Does that mean I file in Nebraska? He's not active duty at the moment. Hope someone can clarify for me :) Thank you :)

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Thank you, VJ! smile.png

the mailing address should be in the n-400 application and instructions

Thank you. I read the instructions. You don't have to make it sound like I can't understand it. My question is whether to file in Nebraska because he's military or if that is only for active duty? The point is that we are either filing in Nebraska because he's in the military or whether we file based on living in PA

I think the instructions are clear. According to the wordings

Current or former members of the US Armed forces, spouses of current members of the us armed forces, or close relatives of deceased members of the us armed forces

Since you are the spouse he needs to be current member of us armed forces for you to send to Nebraska else send it based on where you live.

Okay, well technically he is still in the guard so that makes him a current member of the armed forces I guess. Because national guard is military too, but he does have a civilian job, so that's where my confusion lies

I understand your confusion. I think the best way is to call their 1-800 number and find out the answer unless someone in your situation can answer in this forum.
