I want to go and watch from a hotel room with a view, I would never actually stand on Times Square. I hate LARGE crowds...too much can go wrong. We priced hotels and I almost fell outta my chair, they wanted craaazy money for New Years Eve.

How much did they want?

When I priced at the end of Oct...they wanted $300+ ffor New Years Eve

$300 is crazy money?

Try $1,900 per night for a room with a view with a minimum booking period of 3 nights.

How about $5,000 for a Marriott suite with a view of the ball for one night?

you betcha $300 is crazy money. for that, i could buy a bunch of beer and still watch the ball drop on tv

I went on whim with a group of friends sometime in the late 1970s. What a crazy, crazy experience! There was a blizzard the next afternoon when we drove back to DC, and you couldn't see your hand in front of your face.

The Marriott Marquis and DoubleTree hotels charge $300 for a regular room on a regular day;

on New Years Eve, $300 wouldn't even buy you an entrance pass.

The $5,000 JW Suite, on the other hand, is preeetttty nice. It's located on the top floor

of the Marriott Marquis, has a bar and a grand piano, and is big enough for a party of

20-40 people.

$5,000 for one night does not pass my test of money expediture. if it eats up more money than i make in one day, i cringe......

I would never want to be in a crowd that large full of drunk and disorderlies. :P

I'll pass thanks.

Allah tries his chosen people through many hardships, but those who persevere through adversity, surrendering themselves before the will of Allah, shall be blessed with a superb reward.

-The Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as reported by Anas bin Malik

A time will come when the sky is torn apart; when the stars scatter, and the ocean drains away; and when the graves are tossed about, and laid open. At that time every man will be told what he has done, and what he has failed to do; and every woman will be told what she has done, and what she has failed to do.

-Qur'an, Al-Infitar, Surah 82:1-5

Well, looks like I will be in that crowd on New years eve. I've explained to my wife not to get too upset if she realizes she can barely see the ball or not at all. That isn't the point. Being in a sea of crazy and happy people is.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

I will be watching the Ball drop from across the street

I booked a restaurant in Times Square with a VIP table next to the window facing Broadway :innocent:

I'm wicked jealous! Really!

Will you post a picture?

I wanted to go. My friends are probably going. I can't move yet because my apartment isn't available. :( Excuse me, I have to attend my own pity party...

Cheapness has nothing to do with the amount of money you make. You could be a millionaire and still cheap. :)

I will, Jenn. :D
