Hi every one,

My wife and I have been scheduled for an interview next month in Atlanta, GA. My question is not technical, but more for planning purposes.

We live in Huntsville, AL, and we have not been to Atlanta before. Actually never driven that many miles :)

So my question is , my interview is at 10:00 am GA time, what should I do to be as comfortable as possible.\? I know there is a time difference.

When should I leave that day? or is it better to travel the day before?

Where are the cheap and close hotels? our resources are very limited.Or church houses that will be willing to host us there? Really it will cost us so much in gas we are worried.

How is the traffic like in Atlanta?

I am just paranoid, because every one says it is very dangerous and traffic is always unexpected. And i really dont want to be late to this interview.

Is parking provided next to the Center, and is there surrounding places we got get a quick snack?

Thank you

I've been to Atlanta a few time, and I know the traffic there can get pretty crazy! Goodluck with your interview and let us know how it goes. smile.png My husband and I are in the same boat. We are applying for adjustment of status now, and are currently living in Birmingham, AL, so I'm sure he'll be making the same trip to Atlanta for his interview lol.

I live near Huntsville (Decatur) and would be interested in knowing some of this information too since our interview will be there as well.

If it helps, it took my wife and I 4 hours comfortably (not including rest stops) to drive from Atlanta to Decatur. Try mapquest, you can put in the model of your car and it will calculate the distance, estimate the fuel cost, and give you hotel options.

I live in ATL and just went on the interview today. If your interview is 10 in the morning I would seriously suggest you come over the night before as the traffic is VERY crazy in the morning! You do not want to get up super early and stress out about driving and interview. The local office is actually located at a relatively cheaper area in ATL, and I m sure there are lots of hotels or even motels for you guys to choose. Seriously, you want to either leave the night before, or at least give yourself ONE extra hour on the road.

Thank you. But i would like to now if some one has had the experience already and be more detailed about the obstacles they had, one which was the time difference. And to me safety is an issue too, map quest might not be enough :)

It really depends since I do not know which route you will be taking to get here..but if you are driving pass E285, W285, I20, 400, the traffic will be BAD. If have to describe, it will be bumper to bumper from 730 to 830 roughly every week day, a 20 minutes driving sometimes can take up to 40 minutes or even an hour. however it usually gets better after 9 as most people are at work already. So I would imagine you either come here very early or just arrive on time, either way just do some research online I'm sure you can find a place to stay or figure out a good route.

Good luck!

Drive in the day before, take in a nice meal at one of the many excellent restaurants here in town, get a room (you can find a decent price if you go just outside the perimeter which is where your appt will be), wake up, enjoy a nice hot shower, and walk in prepared for the interview.
