Travelling to the US while awaiting a CR1 VISA

Dear VJ,

My Wife and I just yesterday mailed our I-130 to the USCIS so our process has begun! ClockWatch2.gif

I am the beneficiary in this process and reside in the UK, my wife is a USC and I work for an exhibition company in the UK which requires me to travel to the US several times a year.

Will I be able to travel to the US for personal (visiting my wife) or business (supervising exhibition booth builds) reasons during the entire VISA process?

Many thanks for your help good.gif

Yes, and always make sure you provide proof of solid ties back to the UK (ie: letter from employer, mortgage or leasing bills, etc). My hubby has visited me without any problems and has never been asked for proof that he would return, but he always made sure he was ready in case they did ask for some sort of documentation.

Also, if you haven't already applied through ESTA: https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/, so do ASAP if you plan on coming over to visit!

Hi k.dlg,

Thanks for the reply, that is very reassuring news! I shall be sure to make sure I am backed up with evidence when I plan on traveling to the US.

I already have my ESTA

Many thanks :)

It shouldn't be a problem at all as long as you can show your ties to the UK. A lot of it depends on the person you get at the POE though for how easy the experience is. I've had a really rude questioning person and an almost pleasant one. Last time I flew over all the guy asked me was "So who is moving where"? and I explained about our CR1 and he didn't hold me any further.

I came over whilst a K1 was pending, never had any issues at all. Return ticket booked and evidence of that was all I had but it was never asked for.

Of course you can visit, either on business or pleasure. Bring proof of your ties to your home country. :)
