Hey,

I thought I'd read the sponsors birth certificate was needed for the K1 interview but now I cant see any reference to it.

Can someone reassure me that its not needed? smile.png

Cheers!

The embassy in LONDON does not ask for proof of US citizenship for the sponsor on form I-134 for K1 visa. Positive. They would even accept proof of the beneficiary's assets for self-sponsorship with no I-134 at all.

If it was an I-864 Affidavit of Support for a spouse, then a joint sponsor would need to prove US citizenship or permanent residency because the I-864 has stricter requirements. You will have an I-864 for AOS and will submit US residency proof with with your AOS if you have a joint sponsor.

The USC petitioner and the USC sponsor (and cosponsor if needed) do not need to provide a BC for the beneficiary's interview. The beneficiary does need one.

Nich is correct. We are using a joint sponsor for our AOS and did for our K1 interview. We were never asked for proof of the sponsor's citizenship in London. We actually just ordered our sponsor's birth certificate a couple of weeks ago in preparation for the I-864. .
