ATL GA Interview Today, Approved on Spot !

The only thing that might make my case different from most other cases is.. my husband is currently under military training and could not attend the interview. Therefore I went to the interview with my lawyer this morning.

We waited around an hour and half, finally a nice older officer called us in and started the procedures. My lawyer explained the situation and suggested to conduct a conference phone interview, however, the officer said : it is not necessary.

Then he asked me some basic questions such as what is your name, what is your husband's name, where do you live and how did you guys meet.

Then he took my passport and EAD, and said: I am going to approve you today. You will receive your green card in mail in next two weeks.

That was it! He was very nice and the whole procedure took less than 20 minutes.

I was very surprised that he did not even bother to talk to my husband on the phone, because he has been waiting for the phone call for the whole morning lol.

I really think most immigration officers have a soft spot for those who are serving the country, and as a matter of fact lots of immigration officers themselves are retired from the military. (The officer who interviewed me said he was in the Marine for 23 years!)

The document the Officer took from me :

Passport, birth certificate, I-94, EAD,and Driver License (He also asked for my military ID)

10 pics (family and couple), I took 30 with me.

Mutual financial proof : joint savings, joint auto insurance, joint credit card, joint life and health insurance, as well as my DEER Enrollment form

Some facebook and gmail interactions as relationship proof.

My thoughts on the 7 month immigration process: as long as you have a real marriage, you have nothing to worry about. It might look like taking forever, but it will come to your turn!

I don't remember his first name, but his last name is Exum, he is American African and wore a green shirt. He was really nice! Just the waiting time before interview was like an hour and half haha.

How long did it take for you to go from "testing and interview" stage to actual interview? Thanks

I applied on 07/01/2013 and received a RFE in the mid of August, 2013. After sending the evidence, my I-485 has been staying on "Evidence Review" (since around 20th Aug, 2013) until Dec 22, 2013 then changed into "testing and interview" I received the actual interview letter a week after and the date was Jan 23th. 2014.

ATL is a busy office however most officers are very nice, and during the 1.5 hours waiting before my turn, I saw most couples and family finished rather quickly with smile. Hope this will help!

I hope our interview letter has the same turn around time as yours. Our case went to testing and interview on Jan 22, 2013 after a RFE review.
