Dear Friends,

On January 14th, 2014, my wife had her interview. CO said everything is in order but needed the Original Birth Certificate issued in native language and asked her to submit it on Mon (20th.) or Wed (22nd). She called the embassy next day and they said they will take the document that day if she can drop it off. So, she did drop the document to the embassy on the 21st.

When I check the visa status in https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx? it says Administrative Processing. I called DOS and they said they received the document and it is getting processed. They have my wife's passport.

My question is this: Is she going to be waiting for a long time since status is Administrative Processing?

She is from Nepal and long wait Admin processing is very rare for her country.

Thanks,

There really is no telling what will happen. We also interviewed on jan. 14th and are/were approved. We are in AP also

How long were you in AP before you got approved?

What kind of birth certificate did you submit to NVC?

NVC had a certified long form birth certificate and they were OK with it.

I am not sure why the the embassy asked for the original.

From what I have read ..the status on the website after interview are generally not very reliable.

Wasn't the Original Birth Certificate (in Nepali) not included in your IV package to NVC?

Nope, nothing...BC was the only thing holding the whole process. I don't know what is taking soooooo long, maybe i am just impatient.
