There are more guns out there but those guns are owned by fewer persons. What you see is gun aficionados stockpiling. That's all.

Kind of a misleading, or perhaps a low relevance stat. I can own 100 guns and never harm anyone, but a bad guy can own one and kill many. Point is... homicides are on the decline. Guns as well as other weapons. Good trend, but I agree we still have a long way to go.

What is misleading? There are fewer households with guns. And there are fewer homicides.

And there are lots more guns. Depends on how you decide to scatter-plot those three tidbits to make your point. Just like you, it can go either way. Or both ways.
