well usually it's for money.....

He robbed it because of Generational disenfranchisement, a failure of our Govt to fund the mental health system, and because big corporations are screwing america

Why did a university educated Christian family man need to rob a store for money?

He had to pay for his porn habit.

But in Liberal bizzaro world we would take the gun of the person who defended himself.

In "liberal bizzaro world" (you just cannot conceptualize liberal arguments can you?) neither buy would have a gun and the story would never happen. And no one would be dead.

This is another example if why there will never be any meaningful gun control in this country. People have them that shouldn't have them. Until that minor detail is resolved, forget it.

So until then, everyone get as many guns as possible.

However, I hope you are as diligent in posting stories where the perpetrator 'gets the drop' on a victim, and uses the victim's own concealed carry gun to commit his crimes.

Yeah right.

If you have a valid solution, I'm all ears.

To me, it would make sense to do away with all state level gun laws. 50 different approaches seems far too difficult to manage. One federal statue that controls the sale/purchase/ownership of guns. All must be registered and sold through registered dealers and all purchases are subject to a background check. Anyone committing a crime or being diagnosed with any mental illness will lose their guns immediately.

Obituaries usually try to paint people in the best light possible. I don't recall ever reading one that said bad things about the recently departed. That would be in bad taste, even if the person was actually a pos.

Why are you asking us? I'm fairly certain no one on VJ is master-minding the guys doings. Anything we say would only be speculation.

Its nice that you think so. I was just asking a question, seems reasonable to me.

Eggzachary. We don't know what motivated him to do what he did, and IF his family knew/knows, it's unlikely anyone will come forward to satisfy our curiosity. I'm sure there were some unsavory bits left out of the obit, either by design, or perhaps the family didn't even know of his "dark side" (if one existed).

As far as posting opposing gun stories, there are those on here who do just that, every chance they get. There's probably more negative endings in gun stories than positive ones, just trying to keep it as even as possible.

Yeah that all seems great on paper. Couple problems:

1. People screaming bloody murder about the federal gubmint interefering in states rights. Getting 51 (probably more like 60 thanks to the filibuster thing) Senators and 218 house members and a slew of federal judges and the supreme court to go along with this isn't likely any time soon.

2. What to do about 300+ million legal and illegal guns already out there? They don't have expiration dates, or biodegrade.

Maybe the focus should be on people getting it through their thick skulls that it's not ok to blow people away for whatever reason. That's a tougher problem though. It's easier to blame it on the guns.

Its not my idea's fault congress is useless. I'm not as big into states rights as I used to be. Some stuff should exist on state level but often times I find it ends up being a pointless extra tax. Why does every state have to have its own interpretation on driving when it could all be centralized under the fed? I tend to look at larger state governments as a waste.

I'm not in for the "all inclusive fix" as it doesn't really exist. The ones that are out there are out there. That should not be an excuse to not do anything going forward any more than not making laws unless people will obey them.

I get it. You all want to have a group circle jerk over this story because you think it proves something about gun laws. It does not.

Sounds to me like you just volunteered to be pivot man.

It proves that not all gun-related outcomes are bad. Just trying to keep an even perspective on the topic.
