Kevin McLaughlin of Orrville, Ala. walked in the Dollar General in his hometown around 12:45 p.m. last Thursday, pulled out a pistol and forced the cashier and a customer to start making their way toward the break room.

Unfortunately for the would-be hostage taker, Marlo Ellis, also from Orrville, was the customer.

As Ellis was being escorted at gun point to the break room, he waited until just the right moment, pulled out a legally concealed pistol of his own and shot McLaughlin in the chest, killing him.

This is another example if why there will never be any meaningful gun control in this country. People have them that shouldn't have them. Until that minor detail is resolved, forget it.

But in Liberal bizzaro world we would take the gun of the person who defended himself.

In liberal bizzaro world the liberal would rather be shot and killed instead of being able to defend himself just to prove the point that guns are bad.

But why should a man have the right to defend himself or his family? Murderers and criminals are people too, and their rights are more important than the victims. Personally I think it would be better if only criminals had guns, then the victims wouldn't be tempted to fight back. Overall deaths would go down because now only victims will be shot instead of bad guys.

See how simple this was? Gun nut (a real one, not like the idiots here call everyone who owns a gun) pulls a gun to rob a store (or worse), a law-abiding citizen saves the state lots of money in court costs and prisoner upkeep.

He was suicidal and wanted to be shot? Where does it say that?

This was a university educated chistian family man. Does it strike noone else as strange that he would try to rob a store?

I agree that the outcome here was favorable to everyone but the perpetrator. Ideal results. And it does argue that concealed carry is a good thing.

However, I hope you are as diligent in posting stories where the perpetrator 'gets the drop' on a victim, and uses the victim's own concealed carry gun to commit his crimes.

Or when a car is broken into, and the gun is stolen, and now yet another gun is in the hands on the bad guys. Or any one of perhaps a dozen other negative outcomes.
