My fiancé got his letter last week telling him to come to the Ghana Embassy to pick up his packet. He said when he got there it was about 20 other people there for the k1visa.he said he gave them the paper notice and he was told to come back at 230 to pick up his packet.when he got back at 230 his name was called and a woman gave him his packet with his medical info which is 400 USD, police report and forms that he needed to go online and fill out. Also it gave him a list of all the info that he needed to bring back to the interview like birth certificate and passport size photo. So he has till February 24th to get everything done.

Good Luck to the both of you!!! Is the 400.00 just for the medical exam? Or was it for all the police report, medical exam and other forms?... I'm trying to get an idea of how much we gotta pay.

The 400 is just for the medical and he said it's 50 for the police report. Then we have to pay 240 to Ghana Embassy for the visa. I'm starting to feel like this K1 visa is all about money. We putting somebody kids through college with the total amount of money we spending. Lol

The funny thing is its U.S. dollars. The day we went for my husband's interview so many people had to leave because they did not have enough money. They thought it was $240GC. Actually I paid it online and did not have to worry about money when we got to the embassy. Good luck everyone take the information you can find here seriously and be prepared with proper, well organized documentation.

Th police report is 40 cedis and it takes roughly 2 weeks for it to get ready. I called the hospital and was told to bring along 500 cedis cos I already have Hepatitis and Yellow Fever Vaccines. So if it would help ask your partner to call the hospital and find out. It might not be that much. I called Akai House Clinic because it is close to the Embassy

I have a question about the immunizations and would really appreciate some help. My husband lives about three hours away from Accra and he has not had any of these vaccinations before. Since at least one of them requires more than one dose, several weeks apart, how does that work? Can he get this taken care of at the local hospital or do we have to go to the medical to get them started and then back again several weeks later? Does that mean we have to pay twice? Just trying to be ready. Thanks in advance.

It depends on the local hospital he will have it done at. To be on the safer side he can go to the regional hospital and have it done. Or go to the embassy approved hospitals and that the process for the vaccines before doing the actual medicals. I have my medicals today so I will keep you posted on whether they accepted the tests I had already and fro which hospitals I did those.

I was also reading that the hospital can write to the embassy explaining that you have done the tests and are still taking the vaccines.

babieblu, the medical doesn't cost 400usd, definitely less than 300usd, and the police report doesn't cost 50usd, definitely less than 30usd.

perhaps other things could have gone into the budget.

So We Called The Akia hospital on 3 way and they are still saying 800 cedis. I don't want him not to bring enough and have to reschedule. I don't want someone just using us cause they know we need the test. I don't know what to do now. We will call again on Monday and see what the price is they say again. The police report we got under control. Just this medical I'm worried about now.
