It shows they did exist back in the day.

If you're looking for inconsisencies, why don't you start with the big ones? You know, being questioned without a lawyer or parent? Being coercered with ice cream? What about the mulitple confessions? What about the defense not even cross examining the witnesses? You seem determined to prove his guilt throughout all the blantant rule breaking that was done before, during, and after his trial.

THis may come as a shock to you Marv, but most of the Rights we have such as Maranda rights and perhaps the rights of minors to have a parent present are fairly new creations by the Warren Court (I believe.) In an earlier time getting to the truth of a crime was more important than protecting the rights of the guilty.

And what truth did they discover? There was no evidence. No bloodied clothes. The blunt object used to kill the girls was deemed too heavy for him to use, not to mention his moving the bodies and throwing them in a ditch. Firing the father and forcing the family to leave was legal how? No cross examination? Pretty sure that existed back then. His defense attorney used the 14 year old can't be held to task defense, which was useless because back then at 14 years of age, you were tried as an adult.

Face it Danno, they handled the case completely wrong. And from what sources say, the real killer was right there with them the whole time and confessed on his deathbed.

“I was born in Alcolu, where he was living at the time of this incident, and it always has been talked about in the community. In fact, there has been a person that has been named as being the culprit, who is now deceased. And it was said by the family that there was a deathbed confession.”

this needs to be revisited just to clear his name and memory, should things bear out that he didn't do it.

Here's my thing. If he did do it(which I don't believe he did) there should have still be procedures to follow. From what's out there, nothing was done by the book. The mere thought that they coerced him using ice cream is appauling. As a father, I found myself asking a question. Would I stay and defend my son, while allowing my wife and other children be lynched along side with me, or would I take my family out of the city and leave him to die. I still don't know what the right answer is.

What is it he could have done had he stayed?

Earlier you seemed to be claiming the Law ran the family off, is that the case? Or were members of the community lashing out after the horrific deaths?

The problem with not knowing the facts of the case is everyone gets to assume whatever reality they want took place.

Lets suppose the family was trash, their other kids were nothing but trouble and now this happened, one might understand that back in the day when people where more "proactive" some might threaten burning them out.

Or this could be a poor but decent hard working family with well behaved kids and a reputation as a pillar in their community.

We don't know what we don't know.

We don't know what we don't know.

The father worked in a steel mill, and stayed in the company house. If he was trash, no way that would take place.

According to the links I provided, a lynch mob was formed and almost killed the boy in the jail cell. The family started getting threats, so the father took the family and left.

That sounds about what I figured.
