I was living in mexico the last 5 months, met a guy, got married now im wondering if i can file from mexico, or if filing from the usa is better? Would i need proof of job from mexico? or some proof that i lived there? or would 5 months only count as tourist?

*Was* living there?

If you don't *currently* live in Mexico (usually for a minimum amount of time - 6 to 12 months depending on the country) you can't file DCF.

You'll have to file the regular way.

Well I'm back in the USA, but only been back for 2 days, if it's the same either way, I would rather continue being in mexico with my husband.. I didn't realize I had an option to continue living there with him and file from there until I got back the other day and started looking into the process.. Maybe my better question is can I file from either place, can I live there while waiting for the processing if I file it here?

If you lived there as a tourist, that does not count. You'd need to be resident there- not necessarily have a job, but actually live there, not just "long term visit". Usually that means a residency visa.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Thank you very much penguin, that's exactly what I needed to know. Guess I just have to suck it up and endure the time without him.

Can I travel back in forth while I'm filing, or do I need to be on US soil the whole time?
