My wife and son just arrived after a I-601 approval from Turkey. (took 1 year 9 months btw) I have been reading all I can and I am still confused as to what to do next. How do I get her an employment verification? green card? can she work? what exactly do we do now? From what I gather so far, the gov will send her a "welcome package " in the mail which describes what to do, but she is anxious to get started. Are there any simple explanations as to these basic questions? Thank you so much. Bill

Green card should arrive in the mail with in a few weeks after arriving, the green card is employment authorization. If the POE stamped the passport with an I-551 stamp, your passport is a temporary green-card.

Wait a few weeks and go to your local SSA office and get a SS number, they will need to see the green card or I-551 stamp in passport to issue SSN card.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.
