Hi everyone,

I filed a petition (I-130) for my brother to immigrate here to the US; However, several months after I sent the package of I-130 form to USCIS, I realized that his divorce date in form I-130 is incorrect. He was married, divorced and re-married. Is there anyway I can contact USCIS and correct this? I got a receipt from USCIS saying they got my I-130 package.

Is there a certain letter template that I can refer to and write a letter to USCIS to explain the situation to them? Please help.

Thanks for your input.

Peace

hi

you don't need to correct it now, when the priority date becomes current and the rest of the documents need to be filed at the NVC stage, meaning you will actually need to send his divorce decree and marriage certificate, then you can correct it on the new forms

for now the most important thing is to prove that you are siblings. the rest can be corrected in 12 or more years depending on the country of origin

Hi aleful,

Thanks for your input. I know the time line for F4 is around 10+ years; However, I think since my petition file is still pending with USCIS now, is it better to correct everything here with USCIS instead of waiting until it's transferred to NVC then correct it with NVC then?

Also, you mentioned that I should correct it on a new form with NVC if that's the case, what form is this? do you know?

Thanks for your opinion.

hi

they won't correct it at the service center, the rest of the forms, payments and paperwork will be sent when the priority date is current. that issue isn't relevant to the approval, it can be corrected later with the originals sent to the NVC
