Hi, all.

My fiancée lives far from Paris and was worried about the costs to visit Paris twice, once for the medical and another time for the interview. The costs for travel by train, meals, etc. are expensive.

Granted this all depends on the availability of the doctor, but in theory can she schedule the medical a day before the interview? Or is there a wait requirement for some reason (to get test results, etc.)?

Thanks. :-)

Hello,

No worries at all, you can get your medical appointment in Paris 1 day before your interview.

Basically, it took me one day to accomplish everything: between the appointment itself in the morning, the blood test and the Xray in two different labs and getting the results later in the afternoon.

Good luck!

Thanks for your reply. Can I ask a clarification?

Your medical appointment with the doctor was in the morning. The doctor then sent you to two different labs for the blood test and Xray? And then you had to return to the doctor's office in the afternoon for the packages/results?

If your fiancee chooses to go with Dr Slattery (which most people going through Paris embassy seem to choose), she can have her appointment the day before. Like LittleFox said, he does the actual examination in the morning, then sends the applicant to a (very classy and expensive-looking) lab for blood test, and another one for the X-Ray. Everything is within a walking distance in the same neighborhood and the Dr's assistant will give her a map and instructions. The Dr then gives the sealed envelope containing the medical forms by the end of the day.

That being said, does she have somewhere to stay in Paris? With the price of accommodation there, it might not be cheaper to stay for the night, rather than do the trip twice, if she doesn't.

She should also make sure beforehand that she brings her vaccination records showing all the necessary immunizations up to date. When I had my medical appointment with Dr Slattery, someone couldn't get their forms at the end of the day because they were missing vaccinations.

Very interesting! I am expecting I/L very soon so I have a question about the medical exam: Should I plan the WHOLE day in Paris for this appointment, lab visits? I don't live from Paris very far though...

My doctor said that I have all necessary vaccines so I think there is all good. I don't expect any nuisances here.
