K1 Interview Completed Today! -- Cairo

Just wanted to give an update that my fiance had his K1 interview in Cairo today after waiting 5+ months from the time he sent his packet 3 in. They are moving slower than turtles in that embassy, but something is happening at least!

I'll give a review of the embassy later, but for now I just want to mention that the interviewer was extremely rude yet the interview was surprisingly short and there were no hard questions. My fiance and I prepared so much, just talking about how he could answer tought accusations should any arise (like, we don't have a real relationship, or we are already married, or something like that) and nothing like that came up. Perhaps the frontloading I did at the begining with the packet I sent to the USCIS worked, and we had enough convincing information.

But one weird thing was that at the end, when my fiance asked if he was approved for the visa, the guy told him that "I can't tell you anything" until he updated his TB test again. We realized before that he would probably have to do that since they are only good for 6 months ... but I thought it was strange he wouldn't even tell my fiance he was "conditionally approved" or something like that... there was no mention of AP, and the paper he was given just had the TB update listed. Did we somehow avoid AP? We want to celebrate, but I'm just not sure what happened! I just don't want to get my hopes up and then have to go through another multi-month wait with no communication until we actually get the visa. :/

My husband wasn't given anything but was put on AP/AR. They don't always say or give any kind of document for AP. I will say that they did tell my husband he was approved at the interview.

our interview was on December 11th, 2013 and went exactly the same way...sounds like we had same officer.......officer was rude, but it was short....officer would not tell him if he was approved or not....said, "you'll find out when you send in your new TB results." and handed him a paper with TB box checked......the day ahmed went to get TB results (1 week later)....surprisingly....the embassy called him asking him where were the results...ahmed explained and said he is sending them next day......ahmed asked the woman who called if he should be sending in his passport too (cuz they didn't take it at interview)....she said, "yes defiantly send in your passport too"......the embassy received ahmed's TB and passport on dec, 31st and they updated our case on janurary 2nd.....and now we are waiting...haven't heard anything yet

.....and right after our interview our status on CEAC changed to administrative processing

Thanks for sharing everyone, that puts my mind at ease... we'll just have to see how it goes! He did his TB testing today so hopefully we can send it in within the week! Good luck to everyone else still waiting. :)

Dear A_M,

I'm planning to have my TB test before going to the interview .

Would you please tell me if I should pass by the doctor first, or should I head to the laboratory directly?

Thanks

Hello DIsha89, ok here is what happened with me ... i went to the hospital and did all the Medical exam again all the steps .. except the Vaccinations i told them that i already had it 6 months ago and i asked her to write that i had it because it's dangerous to have it twice as i know. the lady at the embassy when she asked me for the new medical test and i handed it to her she told me why you did it all ? we just need the TP ... i really don't know what exactly the TP ... she toke some papers from the envelope and returned the rest to me.

You are welcome Disha and you can ask anything anytime i was in your situation before and was asking 100 question aday :D ..

1- the important papers

* the original documents: ( Birth Cirt, divorce cirt if he was married before and divorced , Military cirt, Police clearance , the medical exam ).

* Sponsor doc ( HR letter if you will be the sponsor , recent 2 pay stubs , recent w2 forms of you ).

* Evidence ( photos , air tickets , boarding , chat and emails log , etc.. )

* he can also see this video to Practice on the interview question it's very strong one : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ec0ukFoJvFM

for the money : you can take the EGP but i think it's more safe to take 240$ + 100 EGP for the DHL fees.

wishing you best of luck and hope to hear good news about the interview soon insa.
