What race on this earth is more loathed than African American? I'm not using the race card, but let's be honest here. Being in over 17 different countries, I've had to deal with that stigma. It's the ultimate disclaimer, don't be a black guy. If you're black, don't bother.

Teachers in high minority schools are paid 2K less. Don't know where all that money they're spending on funding is going, but it's not going into the teacher's salary.

I used to go to friends and family's houses that weren't as well off as we were. As a child, I never understood why their houses used to smell. You know, the musty, no deodorant smell that gets into your clothes. I remember you had to check everywhere you would sit or play because of the roaches scrambling around when the lights came one. Rats? Take a ride over to ESL, the entire city is one big mess. No one wants to live that way.

Marvin I have friends from South Africa ,Ghana, and Nigeria all black Africans. They say the worst treatment from a group as a whole is from the african american community.......Many blacks in this country think of them as 3rd rate . They have very black skin (bad) and are asked how many lions they have killed. Actually these people come prepared for success.. Could this be called racist how they are treated,

I've been on food stamps as well as a child for a short time. See the difference is, your mom and my mom didn't use at as a long term means of incoome that is passed down from generation to genaration. If you grow up eating toasted O's and generic bread, then that seems normal.

The whole loving food stamps and welfare thing is lost on me as well, yet some folks are fine with it and the govt. has no problem perpetuating generation after generation of people that are fine living with the minimum to get by, as long as they don't have to work.

I think the problem starts at home, not the government. You have to instill in someone the desire to work and want better for yourself and your family. I've been working since I was 11. Cutting grass, doing yardwork, etc. I had my first real job at 15, and haven't stopped working since. If that's not there, you'll settle for anything.

Wars come and go. Teaching your children how to get by on as little as possible, while doing as little as possible is a gift that keeps on giving for generations.

It's not as big a problem as you think.

The government needs to do more to ensure kids leave school with a decent standard of education, that there is enough affordable housing and that there are enough jobs to ensure a reasonable standard of living.

That's the only thing worth talking about.

Actually, the same can be said about us with true Afrcians. I've been in countries where I've encountered Africans. Once they hear me speak, their entire demeanor changes. I've heard them tell me to my face, I'm a sell out because I'm an american. Like I chose to live here or something.

You're a mod. If it is against TOS please remove it. I don't want to contravene the rules.

If he's going to do that, he might want to first vet several hundred pages of political cartoon threads...

But what is the GOP going to do about it? I've heard let's get rid of govenment assistance and we hate ACA, yet what's the alternative?

I don't think anyone is calling for an abrupt end to all govt. assistance. A first step would be to make sure this govt. assistance has conditions. It's not the govt. assistance in itself that's the problem. It's generational reliance on it.

However, there are times when one may contravene the TOS without realizing it. On few occasions I have reported my own posts because they might be misconstrued, so I admitted to that being a possibility in this case. As it turns out though it was a simple case of P&R, or T&R.

Post of the year. You get it.

Any system is going to subject to abuse. Any opposing group will be happy to highlight said abuse and even propose that it is the rule as opposed to the exception.

Welfare payments themselves are a pimple on a gnat's a$$ when it comes to the size of the federal budget. It's not the money as much as what it does to people and the generations that come after them.

This is funny coming from Africans being that I have been told by some that my blood is tainted from the white devils and I will never be a true African nor ever be accepted by them. That we blacks are sell outs for taking the white devils religion.

This is a good one, I don't look African enough to date and would never date a black American woman because we are not true Africans.

I treat all people the same. I have some that I speak to and they don't even speak back. And like Marvin said, for the ones that will speak they stop when they hear our accents. I hand a guy yesterday to ask me was I Afro -Brazilian, I said no, I'm black. The conversation ended right there.

I think that would be good. My only concern is the GOP seems to think that, one, only black people are on welfare(they ignore the 38% of white people are on it as well), two, not every black person is some lazy bum waiting on their check.

Yep, they look at us like we had a choice or something.

People also need to learn about personal responsibility. Government cannot solve everything. My family came here as refugees, and we were on welfare. It's a great program when used properly.

Education was instilled on us as children (I had to take ESL in grade school) by our parents, and I started working when I was 12. This taught me that money was not easy to come by and that you had to earn it. In my opinion home is where we should really start, and some people think of schools as free childcare.

In order to get an education, you have to go to school. Small detail.

I don't know about the GOP, but I don't think that only black people are on welfare. However, it seems to be a larger issue in the black community than other races. Espeically when you look at the percentages of black folks on govt. assistance compared to their overall percentage of the population.
