What is not sutprising is the fact that the only response from the left is worrying about the politically correct topic title and completely ignoring the fact that the problem does exist!

So, what can you do, drop the kid off in Mexico and say good luck? What kind of parent would you even be releasing the kid back to if you could? This one....... Is a ####### sand which. Edited by GandD

Oh, I don't know! Maybe enforce current laws and deport the parent that is here illegally and leave them both in Mexico!

What I find so funny about this subject, is that people are crapping all over immigrants for doing EXACTLY what your ancestors did. Except, they didn't fill out any paperwork...

The article says they are coming here unaccompanied. That's all well and good if you know where the illegal parents are, but since they're here illegally, isn't that to assume we don't know where they are? What if they come here with no parents and you can't track them down? Then where do they go and who pays for that?

I know this problem will never get better until we as a nation resolve to attack this problem head-on realistically! Why pass new legislation when politicians refuse to enforce current laws. The simple answer is take away the attraction that draws them here. Revoke business licenses of individuals and companies that employ illegal aliens, since many companies do not worry about the fines that can negotiated down to next to nothing anyhow. I do not mean just companies with over 50 or 100 employees, I mean every company with 2 or more employees. Many people will say it will be impossible to police the companies that employ illegals, that would be the perfect job for IRS agents.

I don't disagree with that. Doesn't really apply to the children in this article though.

Somebody pays for these kids to be smuggled here, so I think most can give a name and phone number of a " friend of the family" that will gladly take care of the child until the agents leave and the illegal parents retrieve the child state-side.

has nothing to do with political correctness. it has to do with human beings not being illegal. children that get caught up in human trafficking need help no matter what border they're being smuggled across. did you read the article or just get giddy over having a reason to cry about foreign children receiving US welfare?

Ok children entering the country illegally and being in the country in violation of federal law

That better.

Same thing different words.

  • Immigrants who entered the United States at Ellis Island were not permitted to remain in the country if they had a contagious disease such as smallpox, yellow fever or the measles. If they were deemed likely to end up needing to receive welfare or otherwise seemed unable to provide for themselves, they would be refused admission. Finally, if they were assessed as likely to become an illegal contract laborer, they would be refused entry. People who seemed to be "alien radicals" were interned. The records of many of the immigrants who entered the country at Ellis Island have become part of its archive. The island is a significant tourist destination, and its website contains links to where the descendants of these immigrants can go when doing genealogical research about their family (see Resources below).
  • Immigrants had to pass the medical inspection before being admitted to the country. It started with a trip up three flights of stairs. This would reveal whether the immigrant suffered from any physical disability, lameness, shortness of breath or obvious heart condition. It was followed by what became known as the "six-second physical." Not only did the doctor-inspections want to prevent people who had infectious diseases from entering the country, they also looked for evidence of chronic illness, mental illness and trachoma.
    • Considerations
Immigrants at Ellis Island also had to pass a legal inspection, which was done by means of a series of 29 questions. Because many of the immigrants did not speak English, the questions were translated into 39 languages. The immigrants were required to answer questions about their name, gender, marital status, occupation, literacy, race and health. They were asked if they had ever been to prison, were polygamists or had ever participated in anarchist activity.

This is for legal immigrants. I think everyone here should know that most of these laws still exist as we all had to deal with them. The problem at hand is illegal kids showing up on our soil and then what to do with said kids.
