Apparently NY is Warmer than it has ever been and still the drain continues.

To me it sounds like sour grapes and you're just trying to say in a roundabout way "who would want to live in NYC anyway".

NYC isn't going anywhere, if you don't like what the Governor said you don't have to.

Thats not it alone, in fact (i have not seen the numbers) but I would bet more manufacturing has left the South than has come. Most famously the Garment and textiles sector.

But as you say Manufacturing has been a needed boost and a growing trend.

One of the more interesting trends it the Black migration back to the South. Even they are bailing out... and coming home.

People usually leave one place for a better life elsewhere, happens all the time. No one place is everyone's Utopia. For the most part, jobs and where they can be found is cyclical. In this case it was mostly the hi-tech boom that fed the economy, mostly in the north. Now that job sector has dwindled it's time to move on to the next boom or anything that will make ends meet. When one place has a less than welcoming economy, they usually do things to build it up and attract more people. Eventually that place will also fall victim to some sort of exodus.

You brought it up about being black at 0727 this morning. Wasn't too early to bring up black people in a conversation that once again has NOTHING to do with black people.
