What rubbish. Whoever said a fetus 'deserves' to die - the issue is that the mother's rights supersede the rights of a fetus (within certain legally defined limits). The reason for this is that the alternative is a form of biological slavery for women.

The fact that you throw the word 'evil' around so liberally merely illustrates your black and white view of the world. Abortion is only selfish, the death penalty is deserved. Good thing there are more enlightened people in the USA.

Actually there is an internal logic to the madness - if you accept that people who believe in absolutes on this subject are more often than not religious extremists. In that context - it makes perfect sense to oppose abortion (because it involves the death of the innocent) but support the death penalty (because murderers deserve to die).

Of course this isn't your garden variety christianity - it's the hellfire and brimstone version.

I disagree. I think these folks have a lot to teach us about what things can cause a person to go down this path. If you kill them, you just throw all that potential data away.

How many people are on death row now. How much data is needed. What causes a person to be evil. Perhaps in the future we can enter their minds in real time. If you look at what is being done in Mexico... 20-30 people beheaded ...others put in acid alive ... If you watch this... there is no remorse for death.

Nice hit and run nonsensical post that added absolutely no value whatsoever to this thread. So what do you suggest that we do with people in this country that are the equivalent to rabid dogs? Do we tell them that killing is bad and make them swear to never kill again before hugging them and releasing them back into society?

Maybe do more to address economic inequality would be the best way to ensure that people don't end up in this situation to begin with.

There's something very wrong with the USA when not only are so many people on death row but there's such a large prison population.

It doesn't take much to be jailed in the US, you don't even need to have committed a crime, just being charged with one can get you banged up indefinitely while you wait for a hearing or trial.

Given the '#### you' attitude many people have about those in jail, noone should be surprised that a brutal environment turns out brutalised people.
