Hi,

I have a passport that was issued by Ahmedabad RPO (at baroda PSK). My passport was issued an year ago after which I moved to Delhi. I currently reside in Delhi. I have to submit papers for NVC for F4 immigrant visa process. Following are my questions -

1) Where should I get my police clearance certificates from ?

PSK Baroda or PSK Delhi or both? I know I have to get it from PSK but which one ?

Do I also need the following police verifications done ?

Police office in Baroda ?

Police office in Delhi?

Do we need to send the originals to NVC ? Or do we give it to VFS before interview ?

Any suggestions/ experience in dealing with similar situation would be helpful

Thanks.

You only need one PCC. You can either get it from Ahmedabad or Delhi. It will be easier getting it from Ahmedabad than Delhi, since your passport has Ahmedabad address on it)TO get the PCC from Delhi you need to first change the address on your passport to Delhi address.

You need the Police Clearance Certificate from the passport office and not from the police stations any more. Just one Police clearance Certificate from the passport office should do.

You need to send the PCC to NVC else you may or may not get a checklist. Better to be safe than wait another 30-45 days for a case complete.

I thought they needed the passport office PCC from place of current residence (Local area passport office). I live in Delhi and passport is from Baroda PSK (Gujarat).

For IR-1/CR-1 visa interview at Mumbai US Consulate, do I need PCC from local passport office and district police office?

In the Mumbai US consulate website, I read

"Indian citizens residing in India: Indian citizens residing in India for six months or more since turning 16 years of age must present Indian police clearance certificates from the local area passport office. This certificate is valid for one year from the date of issuance"

In the same website, under FAQs section, I read

"Applicants whose Indian passport was issued within the past six months may present just the Passport Office Police Certificate, and need not obtain additional police clearances.

Applicants over age 16, whose passports were issued more that six months previous to visa application, must also obtain a police clearance from the District Police Office serving the applicant's place of residence"

My spouse's passport was issued more than 2 years ago...Does it mean my spouse needs to obtain PCC from local passport office and District Police office ? I'm confused

Even I am confused. My passport was issued in 2007 but I got it reissued today (under tatkal quota) as I wanted to add spouse name (mandatory to get PCC), so police verification would be done this week. Did you get any answer for the same as in now that we need PCC just from passport office or district police office as well?

I know for Bombay NVC doesnt need PCC. It's probably true for India in general. You can call and confirm with NVC. They'll just ask you to take the PCC to the interview.
