I was just wondering if someone tried this site already? and if its worth it? is it possible to just go through the process on our own? or would it be too difficult? thank you so much! :)

I didn't use any visa processing agency. It's doable on your own. Lots of guides available here at VJ and people who can help you through :)

It's very possible to do it on your own without a lawyer or service. It will likely be cheaper and faster as well. One user on here, Hank, has written a pretty comprehensive guide to processing through Manila. If you follow the guide on here for how to file the petition and read Hank's guide on how to go through the visa process itself, you should be fine.

We used www.easyfiancevisa.com And it was worth it. No headaches, they are professional lawyers and do all the paperwork so you have the peace of mind it is done correctly. They also guarantee your fiance gets their visa or they refund their legal fees (not government filing fees).

We started our process by talking with a lawyer before submitting our documents to USCIS. Turned out we had to do an RFE (Request for evidence) after 5 months of waiting. We did the RFE on our own, and that's when I stumbled upon VJ, which is evidently more helpful than the lawyer who gave us some BS just to re-use their services. And that's when I found more other useful resources <below>.

Helpful links:

And of course, if you have specific questions, you'll find nice fellow VJ'ers here. So, yes, very self-doable! I mean, with the help of your fiance, that is. This will be both of your journey.

Well, you can, of course, use visa services if you want to have constant validation in every step and if you can afford it. But be careful though and you have to read everything through and through, because I met somebody during my interview who didn't have any idea what forms she signed on and the paperwork that the visa agency handed her.

Good luck! smile.png

I had the fortunate or unfortunate pleasure of doing the K1 process for two different fiancée's (of course years apart and not at same time lol). I was busy with work and travels so I paid an Attorney that actually advertised I believe on this website to do my first. My second time around I did it myself and had no issues. I find now that I can personally compare that doing it myself was better and actually much easier. My Attorney asked me for many documents that really were not needed. Also saved me $1600.

I am still busy with work but chose to do the process on Saturdays. It took me about 3 Saturdays roughly 90 minutes each to compile and submit the package. So basically 4-6 hours of work and it can be done. But not everyone is the same and some chose to have a 3rd party do it. Looking back I found it helped my now wife and I stay close and work for something that we wanted.

Good luck

We began our process with the help of someone else that has had many years of experience with the process. He was very reasonable and was there when we needed him. He has a lady in Manila who met with my fiance' twice to go over her papers and put them in order and she caught some mistakes that helped us. 3/4 of the way through the process we found VJ and was helped by Hank and others. There are some great guides (see sweet cakes entry) and we were able to move the process a little faster because of the knowledge of others here. If I were to do over and I knew about VJ;s from the beginning I would have not hired someone and just followed the great suggestions found here at VJ.

Your experience and circumstance maybe different from those of us here.

If you have the honey money sure go ahead and use this 3rd party. I considered using a 3rd party firm to help me bring my gal here. But, my gal encouraged me not to and I saved $1800usd just for thinking about the privilege of having an outside party make mistakes causing delays RFEs and heaven knows what other kind of potential problems. I used 2 sources of help/information for my gal's packages (I-129f, AOS, and ROC, so far). Those sources of information was here at VJ and a yahoo group called MAG-ANAK. Best advice, like others have already told you, do the paperwork on your own and save the money, Even if you hire and pay a 3rd party for assistance you and your gal will still be doing all of the work. The only work the hired 3rd party will be doing is assembling your paperwork and filing it. Best of luck!
