Actually, I believe most of the folks here talk about regulated gun control. So folks with mental issues don't get to go on shooting sprees. I've never said you can't have a gun, but I do believe you should have a mental health test in order to gauge your competency. I'd have no problem taking such test, can you say the same thing?

I want to believe there is a distinct difference between voting and owning a firearm.

Not in the eyes of the constitution. Therein lies the problem. It seems just about every recent gun control law gets shot down as unconstitutional. Not only that but the fact that there's more than 1 gun for every man, woman, and child in this country is nuts. I don't see a way to un-ring that bell. When there's even a whisper about changing that, people go on massive gun and ammo buying sprees.

That's what happens when the courts keep validating the crazy. At some point there will need to be a societal shift away from the attitude that you need a gun for protection. Problem is, you need a gun to protect yourself from other people with guns (hard to argue against that point), so the insanity just keeps spiraling out of control.
