How long does it take between packet 3 & packet 4

Just wondering what is the average time, after submitting the required paperwork from packet 3, until the interview date in packet 4 will arrive? We are waiting 3 weeks, and I'm getting a little antsy. Holidays are cool, but immigration workers should not be allowed to take off from work during this time. Don't they know we miss our honey's?!

How long is a piece of string?! Times vary enormously and apparently randomly. Some people get there packet four within 2 weeks. Ours took over 8 weeks. They never acknowledged that they had lost our checklist, but by a staggering co-incidence, when I sent it in again after 6 weeks, we got our interview date 2 weeks later.

I'd wait a bit longer as it's the holiday season, but if you still haven't heard back in another 2 weeks or so, I'd resend the checklist. Definitely DO NOT call the 'help line' as it is an enormous waste of time and money. They can only 'help' you if the US Embassy have updated your file, by which time you will have received your packet four anyway.

PS - The joy doesn't stop with the interview. We had ours on Thursday 21st December and we still don't have my passport back yet.

You can call the Dept. of State in the US at 202-663-1225, press 1, then 0, then 0. Hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. They can tell you the current status of your case and if you have been scheduled an interview date.

I called last week and was told our packet 3 was received and approved and to call back this week and we may have an interview date. GOOD LUCK!

Thanks for the tel number, as soon as I saw it I started anxiously dialing... only to remember that all gov't offices are closed today, ugh!
