my daughter and i are planning to travel to the philippines and we want to do an one way ticket because we dont know the return date. what is the best route to take and is that possible to do?

Just my opinion, but if you and your daughter are US citizens most airlines will not let you board the plane without a onward or return ticket. Immigration/customs in the philippines will not let you enter the country without an onward or return ticket. When I say "onward" ticket I mean a ticket to leave the country within a given period of time depending on how long you wish to stay in the Philippines. I have known people that have done what you wish to do and have purchased a cheap throw-away ticket for the purpose of satisfying the airlines and Philippine immigration/customs and have stayed as long as they could get visa extensions. Others may have a different experiences or opinions. Best of luck!

I will also add that if you and your daughter are dual citizens what you want to do should not be an issue. Also, you can always make use of the balikbayan (sp?) visa.
