hello

My husband went for interview on november 26,2013.

Thru out the interview he was asked questions, at the end when time for decision he was told by CO in lagos that he

He didnt convince them that his marriage relationship with me wasnt bona fide. He had pictures, wedding certificate which was stamped with the seal, and other legal documents. I,m usa and he is nigerian and was approved by the uscis before our priority date...october 2014. We were married on April 5,2012. Is this normal? We are researching and bascially i was told its a waiting game, but this is messing with our lives by being apart. All advices suggestions are helpful also...what additional

Info they would need? We havent stayed together for us to get any business done..BUT we comminicate like crazy even with his family.

I'm confused by your status, are you applying for CR1 or naturalization?

My suggestion for you, Madam, is to delve into the archives and read up on marriage visa denials (the usual issues will surface such as age difference, number of visits, meeting families, inside or outside Nigeria, etc) and also ask your Husband to be precise to you in all the questions that he was asked.

You filed for the proper visa, IMHO, so you now have to go through the process to challenge the fault that the CO alleges. Had you filed the wasteful K1 then yoru investment would have been lost and you'll have to start from the back of the line again.

Good luck.

PS: A denial is emotional and psychologically devastating so please be closer to your Husband during this time.

Good luck to you guys again, the time for strength and perseverance is at hand. You have many readings to do on this and other websites and follow through on forms and such.

Hello Gowon,

I understood your reply very well and thank you and i readed over a hour of cpuples going to the embassy

To get approved or denied...my case is the embassy pended our case until i supply additional information to the Dhs/USCIS.

We have to wait 120 days from the day my husband was interviewed to get his immigration visa. The CO stated he did not convinced them that our relationship was bona fide...we married in April 5,2012 at registry, no...i didnt have a traditional ceremony. My husband answered all questions is what i was told cause he sent and called when he gotten the decision.

I even got on the phone and called embassy and as ususl..no answer so i emailed them twice..they emailed me back with the result. I saved all emails, etc from day 1 for back up...120days includes waiting for the department of state response and DHS/USCIS if needed so they can give me a form on what to send for additional information so my husband can get a reinterview in lagos for immigration visa.

But i have noticed there was alot emails, facebook accounts, etc being turned in for evidence of marriage maybe one of those items werent there...then again one isnt the same thank you for your response

If I understand you correctly? your CR1 visa was denied at the embassy level. If so, you have several choices. One to contact your congressman asap and see if they can intercept the return of your petition back to the USA. If they can't, then your petition will be returned and you will need to reaffirm it. Once reaffirmed, then your petition will return to Lagos for another interview and then they will either deny again or approve him.

Meanwhile, there are few questions you can answer to help us better understand why you were denied? have you met his family? did you spend sometime while there with friends and relatives. Did you submit enough evidence and proof of your ongoing relationship? Many questions which the answers will help us help you.

Also, Gowon brought up a very valid point. The denial is difficult for both of you. Comfort each other and then regroup and decide your next move. I would suggest another trip to see him between now and by the time you tackle the reaffirming of your petition.

Good luck!

You are welcome. May I ask how many times did you visit him in Nigeria before marrying? and how long did you stay? what kind of evidence did you provide to support your ongoing bonafide relationship?

What are the red flags in your relationship? To be able to provide you with more info and assistance, we would need more info.

Take care.
