Ankara - Received Letter from Consulate - interview in a few days

Hello All,

The US embassy in Ankara emailed me (on behalf of my fiancée) asking her to bring these documents for K1 interview:

· Medical report (please visit http://turkey.usembassy.gov/medical_requirements.html for medical requirements)

· 2 Photos (please visit http://turkey.usembassy.gov/photo_requirements2.html for photo requirements)

· Birth Certificate (original/translation/copy)

· Proof of relationship between you and your fiancée (photos, phone records, emails, letters, etc…)

But we had already mailed 2 passport photos and proof of relationship as per earlier instructions. We're wondering whether this is a standard reminder email or whether it means they are not convinced of the proof we already mailed which includes screenshots of weekly samples of Skype calls, Viber, WhatsApp and other messaging applications from her mobile phone in addition to photos from our engagement ceremony and my Google voice number call logs (for international calls). My I-129F packet also included similar logs in addition to boarding passes, passport stamps photocopies, airline tickets, more engagement ceremony photos and a diamond ring receipt.
We're now considering printing out the entire WhatsApp/Viber chat logs and have my fiancee bring them to the interview? They are about 300 pages when exported to tables with small font size, do you recommend doing this? Has anyone from Turkey received similar email for their K1 interview?
Thanks!

was there any reference to bring in a police report? or is that something one orders and it's sent on to the IV Unit ?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

No actually there wasn't (in that particular email). No the police record is obtained by the applicant him/herself and then submitted to the consulate via mail and that's what we did.

They also didn't even ask her to bring in the passport in that email, but that might be too obvious and it might be just they didn't feel the need to specify it in the email.

Also I was wondering if an apartment lease would be a good proof of my intent to marry? I currently live with my immediate family since its customary in our culture to remain living with the family until getting married at which point one would move to a new aparment with his/her new partner. So I have just recently rented a new apartment in preperartion for my upcoming marriage and I was wondering if we should submit this lease as evidence? I'm still not officially living there but the lease has already started since January 1st (23 days before my fiancee's interview)

"They are about 300 pages when exported to tables with small font size, do you recommend doing this? Has anyone from Turkey received similar email for their K1 interview? "

I did just that! I ant-sized the fonts and printed couple sheets per page to save as many trees as I can. It might have been hard to read on their part, but they asked for it. They really didnt need to read our personal conversations, i just wanted them to see that we do stay in contact constantly and that from whatever they can read, we always make plans for the future, etc. I wish they would accept external drives which would make everyone's lives so much more easier and more earth friendly really.

Just a heads up though.you should send your whatsapp convos to your email every couple months (i suggest once every month) cause the emailed version on goes back so far. it doesnt go back to the day you started using in unfortunately, and I discovered this in a very annoying way :( I dont know about viber though, hvent used it much. this is why I wish we can show them things on a computer or via the phone, cd's etcs.. its not possible to prove everything you want to by paper :(

aynway, good luck. dont panic if you get put in AP. they might just need some extra time to look into your file or your proof or they just wanna be a pain for no reason.

Thanks guys for the replies! We have high hopes and inshAllah it goes smoothly. My fiancee will submit my lease and she took around 70 pages of chat.

Yeah I wish they allowed mobile devices, there are plenty of evidence that can be shown this way. My fiancee used an Android app that can export the conversations on the SD card in tabular format, it was really helpful!

Here is the app url https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smeiti.wstotext&hl=en

There isn't one for iOS though :/

My husband had his interview December 18, 2013 and we were approved all the way through. I sent his paperwork in over a year ago. I even emailed the embassy in Ankara and asked if I needed to provide all the items requested at the time of his interview again because it was already included in his original packet that went through at uscis and the nvc. They told me no. Unfortunately they asked for it after his interview again even though everything was directly in front of them. I had to provide our turkish red marriage booklet. My original divorce decree with gold seal and all of our facebook messages from 2010, all of our phone records for the last year and a half with highlighted numbers. Its like I had to provide everything all over again and new photos of he and I that were recent. I personally think some of it is the interviewer because after reading peoples reviews after interviews...some interviewers ask and some said they didnt even look at the items requested at the time of interview. I say bring EVERYTHING. The more...the better and that way there shouldnt be any delays. I just sent my original divorce decree copy from the court again and my husband will send that with his passport per their request and the orange paper he received from the embassy and we should be done now and his visa issued. He did not have to attend a second interview. I hope this helps.

I would reccomend you to email your all logs (whatsapp, Viber, Line... anything lets u to email chat logs.) and when you print them it will be hundreds of pages and will be so annoying to deal with. I email all the logs to my email account once a month and edit them on pc. instead making the font really small I just cut many logs and leave couple logs from each day. it still shows that u keep in touch everyday. i have been keeping our logs for so long that if i printed all of them it would be thosands of pages because we type each other all day. This is our solution and honestly im not sure if editing them would cause problem but i dont think so. and using Skype over the phone and print the logs is another option. It seems like she is going to attend the interview with enough evidences.
