Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I was in China on an F visa and as far as I know the police don't give clearance certificates to people with that kind of visa. However, if you could still give me the number you used, I'd really appreciate it! I'm willing to try anything to solve this.

Hi there !!!

I am new to this forum and seek help regarding a query on getting a Police Certificate. Going through the forum i read that Chinese Govt does not provide Police Clearance Certificates for people having visited china on L or F type visas. To be exact this was the statement:

"Certificates are available for those in the J-1, Z, and X categories. The GOC does not issue police records for temporary residents of China in L or F visa categories".

Can I get a link where I can get this statement verified. I have seen few links like the following:-

http://travel.state....ocity_3537.html

http://travel.state....5.html?cid=9015

But both of them give an error. Can somebody please give reference of some chinese website or Govt webpage whose print out can be sent to the Immigration officers.

Thanks and looking forward to a reply..........

Hi! Trying to get a police certificate from China was hard. I could not get a straight answer out of any embassy, be it Chinese, American or Canadian. The US reciprocity schedule online does state that the Chinese police do not do clearance checks for L or F visa holders, however when I contacted the American embassy in Beijing they told me that anyone could get a police certificate! Talk about confusing.

Luckily, I have a friend in Beijing who was able to somehow wrangle a police clearance check from the local police station even though I had an F visa. I am not entirely sure what he did to get it, so I am not much help there, but I can tell you that the Canadian embassy in China forwarded me to a company who helps foreigners get police certificates from China.

This is what they sent me, "Thank you for your email. Please kindly be advised that you might wish to consult Beijing Shuangxiong Company, a service provider for the local police authority in terms of obtaining no-criminal record, they can be reached at 64027616 or email at shuangxiong516@sina.com. Please kindly be advised that this company can only provide the service in Chinese, therefore, you may wish to obtain the assistance from a trust worthy friend to liaise with them if language is a barrier."

The police clearance certificate i received cost me an arm and a leg so don't be surprised if they are charging a lot for it. If you speak Chinese, or have any Chinese friends who could translate for you, this might be the best option. But if that fails, then perhaps you could just bring a copy of the China reciprocity schedule to the interview, and highlight the part about no police certificates for L and F visas. This is the link you could use:

I hope this helps, and good luck!
