Hi everyone!

I have read that if the photo page of my passport is damaged my visa could be made pending/denied at interview. Our petition just got approved, so I am planning on replacing my passport to be safe before I get to the interview stage. I am going to France for 4 days on the 14th of February, so will need my passport for that. I was wondering if I should replace it before I go (it might be pushing it for time) or will I be ok replacing it as soon as i get back. I am a little worried that if I wait my interview will be scheduled longer than 4 months after our NOA2 because of the 3 to 4 week waiting time for replacing a passport in the UK. I may be worrying for nothing ( i usually do : )). I just thought i'd ask and maybe see if someone could explain the time frame of the whole thing after NOA2, including timing of filling out forms (where i'm sure i would have to include my passport number).

Thank you in advance!

Well I hope this helps some. My husband had spilled olive oil on his photo page of his passport which made it very light and discolored. Prior to him coming on one of my trips back from Nigeria I asked one of the officers @ POE about it and if he should replace it, he said we only care about the visa and not the photo. He still has the passport since it doesn't expire until 2015. He gave it at the interview just with an explanation, It was accepted, visa was issued and it was used to exit Nigeria and enter the US without any problems. Good Luck!!

The expiration on the NOA-2 can be automatically extended (up to a year, I think) by the consulate. Scheduling your interview outside of 4 months won't be a problem. If you're worried about not getting the new passport before your trip to France, I'd wait until after the trip to renew it, and explain the delay to the embassy when scheduling your interview.

I think you'll have about 2 more months till the interview itself,

so you have some time to get a replacement passport.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Hi

You can always book an appointment at a passport customer service centre & you should get it there & then or wihin a week according to gov.uk web site, it will cost a lot more but if you need it quickly it will be the only way, as having a damaged passport could lead to problems.
