You are too cute Marv.

It's a simple question. And are you hitting on me?

The type of details these guys want to repress often lend a more true and more human picture of the man that was. Mlk was a man that lead a great movement. Just because he wasn't a saint, that doesn't change the importance of the movement.

Yes, because Kennedy was a great president. That fact that he had more women than I had hot meals is irrelevant

Thats the intellectual point (and well made)

At the box office, to leave that stuff out would leave the viewer thinking it is not complete or an honest representation of history.

How was Kennedy a great president?

They do that ####### all the time. Movies by their very nature level out details as the only have a couple hours. All families attempt to cover up scandal to save their honor. Why wouldn't they try if they can?

Of course these type of movies are not factual, they never are (Oliver stone was involved, need I say more).

However, the sex angle missing is sure to go noticed and endlessly talked about and I suspect in the end, leave the viewer feeling the production was incomplete.

Why the fam is fighting it is a good question.

For if they really are the money grubbers they would do whatever it took to boost the box office.

Maybe they just don't want anything to tarnish his iconic stature.

For real, can you think of a person in American history who is more untouchable than KING, to even raise a critical point about the man, places one in the camp with David Duke...... few brave souls will do it.

Maybe as you said they just want to protect their fathers image out of reverence, I could certainly respect that.

I dunno, why did Mark Sanford's family try to cover up the affair. Families don't want to tarnish the image of one of their own. Why would they? You think MLK's family should be so enlightened as to make sure everyone knows about the embarrassing things he did? Who on this planet would think to do that to a family member?

It does make his presidency more interesting and his personal life more complicated. This adds to the complete picture of the man. Why do you think jfk was such a popular president?

I'm not sure that is a fair comparison as Sanford story (and now life) is more tabloid while King is a huge chunk of history in the last century.

Did Sanford's family try to cover before the cat was out of the bag or are they covering now?

The only thing left to come out on King is the FBI tapes which I doubt will ever be released. I mean do we really want to hear his private observations, his conversations with hookers? His reactions when he is mad at events?

Do we really want to see King as human?

Yes, yes and yes.

But I doubt we ever will in our lifetime.

Instead we have to go on the word of those who have heard them.

The latest revelation came from Jackie Kennedy who couldn't stand to see MLKs photo after hearing the tapes.

(Perhaps it reminded her of her own husband.)

The point he is trying to make is anyone would want to keep those details out of the lime light. I've heard stories about Mother Teresa that would contradict her sainthood persona. Doesn't take away what she accomplished in her lifetime. But you seem obsessed to tarnish him. Why? We have presidents that cheat on their wives, politicians that are corrupt to the core.

ugh.

I guess bashing blacks, gays, and anyone who doesn't think like Danno wasn't enough for him. I wonder who's next? Coretta Scott King? Or maybe Medgar Evans? How about James Meredith?

I dunno, this thing seems pretty simple to me. They want to do a all inclusive real movie about mlk, including the historic speeches and his affairs. But the family owns the rights to said speeches and won't allow them to be used in anything they deem to be disrespectful. Of course that's what they're going to do. Now the movie producers need to weigh whether the speeches or affairs are more important. So, show the good, or the bad, but not both. Assuming you were an investor in the movie, and we all know movies are about money, what would you want them to do?
