I agree there's something wrong with that, but what's the solution? Tax them even more? As for Americans, at some point they'll just burn their passport and go get citizenship somewhere else. We've seen it in France.

What's the solution? I don't know, maybe not privatising everything would be a start.

The problem with that is that monopolies (government or otherwise) are notoriously inefficient and usually lack any kind of innovation.

That's what is claimed.

Well I think they tried that for 70+ years in Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union. The government ran everything in those societies, and the result was pretty disastrous.

Yeah well, there are no good ideas if the only examples are on the extreme end of the scale.

I wouldn't call the U.S. economy on the extreme end of the scale.

I'm only still in US due to my kids. Once the youngest turns a teenager I'm off to Nigeria to become a farmer and live off of the land.

I'll be doing the same in Thailand in the next few years. At least my wife will be doing the farming. I haven't decided what I'm going to do yet, I just know it wont be in the U.S. Once I get enough $ together, I'm out permanently.

Maybe I'll open a fiancee visa agency in Thailand. Seems like there might be good money in that.
