Error on POE I94 - who has to fix it CBP or USCIS ?

When I got my SSN the person there noticed the error on my I94 (which I had no chance to see at the airport of course). CBP had recorded my added my first and middle names together in the first name field. Still got my SSN but I'm wondering when to get it fixed.

According to the USCIS site it's down to CBP as the error was made at POE. Of course the CBP site says the opposite.....

Given that I don't want to hack all the way down to the USCIS office I was pondering just leaving it to sort out later but would rather not come unstuck at some point.

It's CBP's issue, and they are the only ones who can fix it. I doubt their site says otherwise.

Got some problem before when i applied for ssn.. My husband called the USCIS and then they corrected it again and we print the corrected I94 form.and changed my SSN name

You might doubt it but this at least suggests otherwise

That seems to indicate getting a SAVE error corrected; for correcting SAVE it's USCIS, for correcting I-94s it's CBP.

If it is a problem with the information entered into the immigration database, then yes, USCIS fixes that. If it is a problem with your I-94 info being incorrect, then CBP fixes that.

Will the I-94 automation process help eliminate errors? If information on the I-94 is in error, how does the traveler correct mistakes?

Answer:

The electronic version of the I-94 will help eliminate errors because the information will be obtained by official documents and officer input. If there is an error or mistake on the paper or electronic form I-94, the traveler can contact the Deferred Inspection office closest to their location.
