Thanks , I did not send any request to expedite, I didnt even expect that they would do it. I was expecting the normal 8.7 months wait time for IR2.

My son lives in Cebu City, they were hit by the 7.2 earthquake and was on signal 4 on typhoon Haiyan but the we weren't badly damaged by the typhoon as the eye hits the northern part of Cebu. Cebu city is in the middle part of Cebu.

This is the reason why we didn't send the letter.

But, hey , they were nice enough to expedite it automatically.

that's great coz we are ready to file for my son's petition too...its my husband who will as his stepson. I thought we have to send in a letter to request. My son is in Tacloban City & we are wanting to get him here as soon as classes there ends and for him to adjust here too before classes here starts.

I would suggest you guys to go ahead and submit a letter of request to expedite, just to make sure.

We did not do it on ours coz we are from Cebu City & I just let them decide if they would expedite it or not, if my son was from Tacloban, I would.

Our petition too was from my USC husband as a stepson. He might get CR2 visa though as a result of this expedite processing as we were married march 2012. , anyway, it doesn't matter, we will ROC it when time comes

sorry to ask...i honestly do not know much about this...just learning anyways, What is the difference between IR2 & CR2? Just an additional info. I was married to my husband since 2011

No worries! We are here to help each and everyone as much as we can

CR means conditional resident, visa given to spouses who are married to the USC less than 2 years (this also applies to our sons & daughters) & will be given a 2 yr green card. (You might get a 10 yr green card after your AOS is approved), 90 days before the green card expiration you need to file I-751, Petition to Remove the Conditions of Residence to get a 10 yr green card.

IR1/CR1 is for spouses

IR2/CR2 is for child/stepchild of USC below the age of 21

USCIS petition time frame changed they are more faster than before my mother filed I-130 for my married sister and brother over 21 yrs old last july 2012 and they approved it last Jan 3,2014.

I'm not sure if I agree with you on this but maybe , most, if not all fast approvals are due to typhoon Haiyan. Anyway, congrats to them though. Although those visa categories needs to wait still before visa can be issued.

Hi. Congrats on your quick approval. If it's not too much to ask, can you please post a list of what you've included in your I-130 packet? I'm about to mail my stepson's packet and I just want to make sure I have all of what they're looking for. So far I have the following;

1. Personal check in the amount of $420.00 for filling fee.

2. Form G-1145.

3. Form I-130.

4. Form I-130 Additional Sheet.

5. Copy of Certificate Of Marriage.

6. Copy of Stepson's Birth Certificate.

7. Copy of my wife’s green card and my unexpired U.S passport

The are no divorce papers for me and my wife since we both never been married before. Thanks for your time.

Looks like you're good to go.

On my end I sent, copy of my US passport's biographic data & copy of certificate of naturalization as proof of citizenship. Either one is fine but I tend to make sure that there will be no hurdles on my paperworks.

Just couple years ago, most of our VJ members here says that if you use a US passport as a proof of citizenship, you need copies of all pages.

I tried to confirm this b4 I replied to this inquiry but the most recent replies would tell you that a copy of US Passports biographic data is good enough.

By the way, I sent all original certified copies (NSO Birth Certificate), just to make sure. coz it says on the instruction that you can send copies but they can RFE you for originals if deem necessary, I didn't want to gamble with USCIS's "IFS"
