Do I have to use USPS if I'm mailing from abroad?

Hi all,

I'm filing a CR-1 for my spouce. The CR-1 guide says "Send by USPS". I live in France, and for the life of me I cannot find a USPS location anywhere in Europe, let alone near where I live. (Before you say "DCF!" Yeah, Paris doesn't have a USCIS office so I still have to send it to the Chicago lockbox.)

I mean, I know USPS gets here. My Etsy wedding ring is being shipped via USPS. I just don't know if anything can be shipped to the US. From their website, I see nothing indicating this, nor any ability to locate USPS places abroad. Google also fails to find any info. Perhaps it gets taken over by the French poste or something once it hits French soil?

Question is - Do I have to use USPS? Especially if I'm mailing it from abroad?

Usually European post offices co-work with usps, so if you send your mail with french postal service it will get to US and then usps will deliver it to chicago lockbox. There is distinction in mailing addresses between using postal services and couriers for instance Fedex, DHL etc. It says usps because usually people are sending their forms from US.

So you don't have to look for USPS in Europe, just remember to send it with registered mail, so you can track it and have confirmation that uscis got your package.

No. Can use the postal carrier in your country,or UPS,DHL,FEDEX.

There is no Unites States Postal Service (USPS) anywhere outside the United States, each country has their own postal service, which is called different. Use your local service and once your correspondence/package is in the United States if will we handled by the USPS.

Chronopost worked for me. Make sure you're using the correct address though, they are different wether you use express mail (Fedex, Chronopost...etc) or regular mail that can be delivered to the PO box.
