Something good and not so good happened today. First, we were able to get my biometrics done! There were just two people getting theirs done before me, and then it was my turn. Spent a total of 15-20 minutes there total. Experience was nice, they did ask me why I was early and I just told them I was in the area and I just thought I'd drop by and walk in.

So today I also got my RFE letter. It was about my husband's income being less than 125% of the poverty guidelines, but we don't understand why since he has a steady job, he's in the national guard, and he earned almost $5,000 more than the poverty guidelines set for our household size. We consulted a lawyer about this too before we submitted our application and she said it wasn't a problem. UGH. This is frustrating. We might just go ahead and get a joint sponsor.

Hi Samlsen, did you add tax transcripts in your application for the most event tax year AND proof showing his income above the poverty lines (such as employment letter on official letter head stating his employment, salary years worked there etc AND/OR pay stubs indicating the YTD amount which proves he makes above the limits). Sometimes with the absent of such documentation, USCIS sends vague RFE mails. Also if he has any dependents on his income tax, it also adds up to the household member size and shoots up the limits. So. Heck all these and if you are certain you you clearly fall above the limits, include all the documentation required and send back the RFE response. You only need a joint sponsor if you don't meet the requirements, if you meet it, you don't need one.

We sent in his 3 most recent tax transcripts (2010-2012), w-2s for 2013 (he hasn't filed yet), his 6 most recent pay stubs (with YTD earnings) for both his steady job and national guard job. He is almost $5,000 above the poverty limits for a household size of 3 (he has a son). We are at a loss right now, since we thought what we submitted was enough. We're thinking of getting a joint sponsor to be extra sure. It's all so vague. Even when we called USCIS they couldn't give us a direct answer.

You could try and call them, ask what happened. My case was updated online on 02/26 and I saw the date stamp on the envelope that it was sent 02/27. I'm really sorry you still haven't received yours yet. I know exactly how stressful that is. :(

It is very stressful, more so because it shouldn't take a letter that was mailed on 2/21/2014 this long to be delivered.

What number should I call them on?

Call them at 1-800-375-5283. Press 1 for English, then Option 2 (forgot what the prompt was), then Option 2 (to talk to a representative). I think it would be a lot better if you asked if you could talk to Tier 2.

I'm sorry to hear that. :( All we can do is wait now. Hang in there. My joint sponsor is busy this week so I think she'll be able to get the paperwork done next week. Wish it could be done sooner but since we're asking this from her, we have to be patient. It will all be worth it in the long run.
