What's a good reason to do a walk-in biometrics? Planning to do that as soon as I get my biometrics appointment letter too.

For me, I live in two different states - MA, IN. I filed for MA but the schedule I got was a time I was planning to stay in Indiana. So I walked-in Indy office before the scheduled day and they worked very well for me. Though I got a rejection due to my poor fingerprints. They reserve the right to accept or refuse walk-ins and it can depend on how busy they are. But some offices have reputations on walk-ins. So you may want to check reputations of the office you're trying. Good luck!

Was the office crowded though? I did notice that there were a lot of people in the Boston office and maybe that's why they told me to come back later.

Nope. Security sent me to reception, reception said he's not talking to anyone and sent me to another guy. And they all came over and were both standing there and watching me getting a hard time for the early walki in by the other guy. Pretty much the office was empty.

Is it normal that until now I still haven't received my biometrics letter? Who sends the letter, the NBC (where my application was routed) or the field office where I'm supposed to get have my biometrics done?

I just read your post and I think it might be the same ASC! Was it Wheaton, MD?

I tried early walk-in yesterday and I had almost exactly same experience you had. The office was empty (only 3people waiting) but the guy in the office brought me in and insulted me for a while. At the end, I did it but it was so upsetting. UGH.

By the way, any updates after your biometrics yet?

Yep that's the one! Very insulting and I was very upset even I ended up getting my biometrics done. The office was empty! It's almost like that's their fun of the day, humiliate people trying to do early walk-ins because they are so busy and has so much work to do! They asked to see the plane ticket for the girl trying to do walk-in for her dad, because he's gonna be out of town on the appointment day and she said she called USCIS and she was so polite and respectful and everything, but those people there just wouldn't stop giving her hell. So hopefully my fingerprints are good and I don't have to go back again, hoping for the same for you too!

And nope no progress since, I wonder if it's got anything to do with the snow storms... lol But biometrics is pretty much the only thing you need to do before the final interview, so it's worth celebrating getting that out of the way!

So I lost my login for the USCIS website, got locked out. Had to put in my tracking numbers to track my case. Accidentally went back too far on the last digit, and someone else's case status popped up. Looks like that person has the same biometrics notification date as me, but it shows the I131 was mailed to local office on the 24th this month already. Jealous!

I got an RFE too. It says that the notice was mailed on 2/21/2014 but I haven't received it yet. I wonder what's taking it so long.

I'm pretty sure I got the RFE because both me and my wife are students and don't make enough money. Arranging for a joint sponsor has been a challenge for me, but I am hopeful that it will be done soon. Did anyone else here need a joint sponsor?
