You buy your car locally through the web or in such a way that no car dealer gets the business.

Sometimes its from private parties. The last was purchased at a dealership after extensive web searching/bargaining. So technically, I DID buy it at a brick and mortar store. Those are a little different though as the car guys tend to have their own little networks. Go to a dealer, tell them exactly what you want in a pre-owned car, and they'll find it for you, make a behind the scenes deal, get the car to their dealership, and then sell it to you.

Big Dog and others are hiding behind the growth in internet sales to excuse poor retail performance, what he doesn't do is show us the boom growth in things like Auto sales or R/Vs.

So what? Take a look at the bottom line. If overall growth is up, then there is an economic recovery, if it's down, then we are in recession. The woes and joys of individual business is simply not relevant in making that type of statement. it is perfectly true that the high street is changing. A lot of business now takes place through internet sales. It doesn't matter what way sales take place, the only relevant factor for economic growth is are these sales up or down.

Yeah, in fact one of the few surging niches of business are guns and "preparedness items."

Interesting enough, one might assume they are all righwingers buying but my experience shows that not to be true at all.

People on the Left Right and Center are wondering "What if" and preparing for it.

Another growing area seems to be the whole organic, free range folks.

This all spells a distrust that is growing. Distrust of Gov't and industry, next level is "distrust of neighbor" as people more and more, loose a sense of community.

Mark it down as a prediction.

Thats exactly how I bought my last new car,

they brought it up from Charleston. Not sure how that was profitable but maybe the same guy owns both dealers, yet still he had to pay someone to drive it up and return him back.

Yeah, now you can just go through car brokers. They'll find you whatever you want, new or used, for a nominal fee. You give them a generic or specific details as you want. That's the lazy man's approach.

There is always a minority of discontents that distrust everything, then there are those who worry about things they can change and they pressure to do so by non revolutionary means. Go figure Danno, the sky is not falling, but there are things out there that we should strive to change.

Does Amazon sell cars and RVs now? How can there be such a boom in car (+15.7% in 2013) and RV (+11.7% in 2013) sales if the economy is as battered as you say it is? Home sales are up, too.

The term "recovery" implies a return to normal status.

While we do see a gradual improvement, we are way behind every other recovery period (historically speaking).

And why is that?

Rather than unleash the Market, Obama has added many more layers of regulations and incentives NOT TO GROW, in fact, he has given businesses reasons to think conservatively.

Oddly enough recently, when Obama puts together a plan to help localized areas , he then cuts taxes and regulations.....should we take this as a sign he is evolving for the good?

The US is never going to grow at double digit rates, it's going to be lucky if it grows in the high single digits. Obama is not the reason for this, and to be fair nor is Bush. The problem is that no one in politics will actually address the idea that the economic model we have been so used to is now redundant and a new model needs to be put in place, one that places a premium on sustainability and conservation . Virtually free energy and labour is over.
