T-Bone that's one heck of a party. Did you say that was party #3? I don't go too wild with parties, grandparents maybe and a few other ppl when the kids are older maybe friends but we do it all at home nothing big like that.

Si and sigh, man -- third party. This resulted from the collusion of Mrs. T-B. & Mama T-B.; I had naught to do with it except pay through the nose. At least Mrs. T-B. & I agree that "we'll never do this again, no man," si and no man. We'll probably stick to the family party next year, and piggyback on the party being thrown for the little girl whose birthday is the day after Mini-B.'s, si man.

I hope you can help me here. The other day, I set off for work, leaving my husband in the house watching the TV, as usual. I hadn't gone more than a mile down the road when my engine conked out and the car shuddered to a halt. I walked back home to get my husband's help. When I got home, I couldn't believe my eyes. He was in our bedroom with the neighbor lady. I am 32, my husband is 34, and we have been married for 12 years. When I confronted him, he broke down and admitted that they had been having an affair for the past 6 months. I told him to stop or I would leave him. He was let go from his job 6 months ago, and he says he has been feeling increasingly depressed and worthless. I love him very much, but ever since I gave him the ultimatum, he has become increasingly distant. He won't go to counseling, and I'm afraid that I can't get through to him anymore. Can you please help?

Dear Anne:

A car stalling after being driven a short distance can be caused by a variety of faults with the engine. Start by checking that there is no debris in the fuel line. If it is clear, check the vacuum pipes and hoses on the intake manifold and also check all grounding wires. If none of these approaches solves the problem, it could be that the fuel pump itself is faulty, causing low delivery pressure to the carburetor float chamber.

How I Spent My Saturday, Man

Arose late and groggily and with no attempt to achieve o'dark-thirty, no man. Hit road at 10 a.m., just after Mrs. T-B. & Mini-B. had left for one of Mini-B.'s contemporaries' parties. First stop was an Estate Sale being run by a downsizing family, see man. Bought a 6-foot-tall antique spindle-lamp, originally marked at $75, counteroffered by owner at $50, and for which $40 was accepted. With difficulty, stuffed lamp in the T-B.-mobile and took it straight back to the casa. Got it inside casa without cat's escaping. With garage empty, took opportunity to leaf-blow all infernal oak-leaves from garage, with great success. Drove to bank to replenish surprisingly depleted GS/ES funds.

Second stop (a GS) had overpriced stuff; scoped and left. Third stop (a GS) had a bunch of grimy ####### dumped on ground or randomly in cardboard boxes; spied a pigeonhole cabinet (originally meant for ladies' shoes) for $5 and got it, with intent to reorganize in manly fashion a garage shelf or two that Mrs. T-B. has corrupted (as in being able to lay hands on powdered plastic gloves but not screwdrivers or tape-measures, si and no man).

At fourth stop (an ES), bought two tablespoons, a silver stirring-spoon shaped like a shell, and an unopened package of straws for $8 total. At fifth stop (an ES run by the family), saw massive collections of everything Golf, but bought nothing after careful scoping. At sixth stop (Aldi Foods), spent $47.71 chiefly on meat & chicken.

Mrs. T-B. rather likes the spindle-lamp (she dust-ragged it without prompting) but observed, re the spoon, "Can it be turned into a ring?" I pleasantly responded, "Si, man -- I'll wring your neck." Just then, Mini-B. interjected with a demand for a new battery for his train (the third new battery requested for it today), so the congenial marital conversation proceeded no further. I ate leftover pizza from Mini-B.'s party for lunch (at 2 p.m., first meal of day).

After an all-too-short nap of an hour's length, with cat, hightailed groggy self to gas station to get oil changed in the T-B.-mobile. As with the Mrs.-T-B.-mobile on Friday, this oil effort involved bringing my own oil & filter: Havoline 10W30 bought at a Kroger store on closeout a couple of years ago; and a Napa Gold oil filter, nothingbutthebest man. After more manly-type errands, returned to casa to play trains with Mini-B. while Mrs. T-B. dehydrated some rice for dinner. Helped Mini-B. put the fourth new battery in his train.

He was just making a lot of noise digging his shoes out, then flopped on the bed (where I was trying to sleep) to put them on, then was stomping around in them, etc. He's normally not so noisy but he was apparently late and rushing around. Still annoying.

that sounds like every day for me with addition to throwing a heavy pillow on the bed right next to me. (buckwheat pillow) Apparently there is no reason to try and be less noisy because he will fail anyways so might as well just make it as loud as it can be.
