They may not give you input, but at least you'll have a captive audience.

I've been to a few from different groups. You've got to find your niche, I suppose. Knitting, go go knitting.

I suspect the Dane and I might have an easier time than some, though, because anyone with a distant Scando ancestor is attracted to him like nothing I've seen. "OMG, I have to tell you about my Swedish great grandfather", poor guy, the Scandos don't really care about that sort of thing.

The one I went to was filled with late-20's single people and I felt very out of place. I looked for a book club, but they were all reading 50 Shades of Gay and I don't roll that way.

Also, I don't knit or I would totes join a knitting club.

So I was about to join the book club in Denmark and what is the first book they are reading? 50 Shades of Gray. No doubt a quality piece of literature, but I'd rather read the back of a shampoo bottle. The next book was like 600 pages and I was the only one who had finished it. Well, that was that.

There's the multicultural group. For people who have lived in other countries. Wine tasting group, I was a member of that, but got booted as I stopped going. The night life group, I'm still a member of that, but haven't been to anything they did in a long time except on accident.

I think the biggest problem with meetup for couples, is very few groups are couples based. They're more geared towards singles meeting new people. Oh there's a bicycling group to. I tried to get into some book reading groups at one time, but the only ones that were reading anything interesting to me already had more members than they can handle. Still before my wife was here, I made a lot of friends through meetup.

See, that's the problem. No real couples group. I looked at the intl group, but it seemed they focused more on meeting singles. I know there's a brit expat group, but I brought it up to Ali and he seemed unsure. He has his football/work friends so he seems okay.
