Has anyone else noticed that the moderation of this site is kind of like the officiating in any professional sports league?

It's like in the playoffs, they let things run a little loose but other times they call a tight game. Some things that fly in some forums don't fly in others.

I guess I need to learn my audience.

Its a rant and on topic here. And yes, I notice the same thing. Even BS off topic threads can get heavy handed moderation with deletions if people start conversing outside the topic title, even thread bans. I really don't understand why they decide to do what where. But its not the easiest job in the world, and they're only human to.

The internet needs to have a satire and sarcasm font. I've been taken for serious many times when I said something sarcastic on the interwebs. I think one guy actually got thread banned upon responding to just such a sarcastic post recently. My own reply to his was just deleted. Which is where I mentioned the BS thread in the off topic area not following the thread topic.

It's difficult to determine tone in printed words.

But mods are human. Each will have a different perception of the same situation.
