What?? Skating is like second nature to a Canuck.....

nah.. she does pretty well with skiing so I hope my mom will get a ski pass for a few days when we visit. :) I don't want to take my board all the way there but It'd be wicked to be able to use it for once.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

There's just no place around here for skating. Super crowded, I gonna have to move to lake Champlain. That way I can send daughter down the bob sled run once daily in lake placid also, 2 birds with 1 stone :)

Did you go?

Yes, I did. That was no good. Some nice soul took pity on us and gave us like a PVC walker, but she was crying and slipping all over the place. Those skates are #######, the buckles kept coming loose and not where you'd think. I'm going to take them back.

I don't know whether to try again with her and figure skates and lessons or just give up.

You could go to Westchester. I used to skate at Harvey.

don't give up. Growing pains :) remember? It's good. If you ask me, get her a pair of skates that is 1/2 size larger than her shoe size (Skates should be half size smaller than shoe size remember?), but get it larger, then shim the ####### out of it with insoles around sole and ankles. That should make it comfy. But it should be tight, remember?

Westchester is far man....

But rest to sure that the kiddo will learn to skate. Floyd Bennett field has a private rink now. "Aviator Skates" or something like that....
