When it first came up many years ago, I had a fair amount of doctors visits trying to figure out what was going on. I suffered pretty badly for a couple months until they realized what was happening. The allergies were not something that showed up overnight, they started slow and built up. Like I used to absolutely loved mushrooms. I ate them all the time. Then I started not feeling so good after eating them, and even started not wanting to eat them. Instead of thinking about how good they'd taste when I saw them, my stomach would kind of rebel on me. They put me on a safe diet right away. I got to eat nothing but rice for a week. Then slowly reintroduce the foods I usually ate and see how I reacted. When I was totally cleaned out, it was pretty obvious which foods were causing the problems. Some were trickier to discover though. Like cashews, as I normally only eat a little at a time, and they're not all that bad, kind of a moderate allergy. It wasn't until a vendor gave me a can of cashews at christmas that I ate enough to realize I was allergic to them. That made me sick enough I needed to take the rest of the day off work. Even if I eat mixed nuts and avoid the cashews, I have to limit how much I can eat because the oil from them gets on all the nuts. But I can eat any other kind of nut just fine.
