So hubs has not eaten very much wheat since he left here. He feels better. So now i'm on a quest for wheat free cooking. We can use corn tortillas which is fine, but does anyone have any suggestions for decent tasting bread etc? He's decided he feels better without the wheat, at least mentally, but right at a time we need to save money, and gluten free isn't cheap. I don't think small amounts bug him, but a sandwich does for example.

My mortgage, taxes, all utilities and association fee do not add up to your electric bill. Even throwing in internet and dish network.

It is crazy. It is those variable rate electric suppliers, some guy on the news here was talking about last month for a 600 sq ft condo his bill was 800! I would have switched back sooner had I known.

I believe the current supplier is at least 50% more than the electric company.

Leaving a house unoccupied and in show condition also means you aren't saving as much as you could - I know my dad used to shut off sections of the house and had heavy curtains, but since I wasn't there and couldn't watch the pipes and we couldn't leave the house in pitch black or run the wood stoves, well, ....

I've seen gluten free bread recipes, I haven't tried any but you can probably read the reviews on allrecipes.com to see if they are any good. We sometimes use the gluten free mixes from the Williams Sonoma outlet, but they are also not cheap. Being gluten free is expensive. My mother does that and low fodmap so it is even worse for her.

Hit by the gluten free bug? I don't eat a lot of wheat myself since my wife got here. I kept thinking it was all the processed foods I used to eat, maybe its the wheat, but my food allergies dropped to near nothing. I eat lots of rice though now.

Wondering if the wife will like these?

you can pay for it with the OT that you're making :)

So our buyers lawyer wired the money to our lawyer today and then all is left is to the estate account, finish paying bills.....and then all done.

Want to guess what our electric bill for January was with practically nothing plugged in and heat set to 55? Mind you it was very high because my dad stupidly switched to one of these variable rate electric providers.

that's probably the "Delivery" charge

Nola's rich!!

(OK, what's in it for us?)

I won't go under the house they have scary spiders here.

ah geez...don't you eat anything?

LPoP and therefore unread, but:

1. Two construction workers ate lunch together. Each time, one would open his lunch bucket and peer in expectantly, but his face would always fall and he'd say, "Nertz! Peanut butter again!"

This went on for weeks, until his friend asked, "Look, if you're so sick of peanut butter, why don't you ask your wife for something different?"

"Oh, I'm not married," the guy said. "I make these every morning at home, myself!"

2. English-only outside the regional fora, oj tak.

get back to work you lazy slackin yokel! whadaya think the the beef is just gonna pack themselves?

Steveklar, pick a name for new thread. I must off-log shortly until late eve, but if you approach the traditional limit of Many pp., Ontarklar (who is remarkably functional with Pregnancy Brain) can start the new thread, si man.

---

Bro D, glad to hear about Papa D, si man. Perhaps you're on the way to retrieve Mrs. D, D man.

couldn't I (The OP) just start the thread? or does threads have to be started by a Modklar now?

No he has IBS, so he has found over the last month, whether it is mental or not, that he isn't bugged as bad when he doesn't eat wheat. Thankfully he loves rice so we can cook a lot of that, but he won't be eating a lot of pasta or anything with bread. He is already lactose intolerant but finds that yogurt and more expensive cheeses don't bother him as much (I don't think aged cheese has as much lactose) so we already spend more money on milk and cheese than I normally would. I don't mind changing some things up and buying two different kinds of bread or eating more rice. We need to eat more veggies anyhow. :D

I wanted to try that no wheat diet.. What does wheat do to you?

That's why I have a big "NO MARKLAN SOLICITING" sign on my door bell. I don't want these knucklehead salespeople for these companies ringing my bell. They're azzholes

I don't want to make the bread. That's entirely too much work. I want to buy it. I can't imagine it's any more expensive either way. I like to cook, but i'm not a big fan of baking.

well apparently it's hard to digest for some people... well most people. But some worse than others, and if you're lactose intolerant you could also be sensitive to other things like gluten. My mom randomly became allergic to kiwi in her 50s and wasn't before then (I distinctly remember her eating kiwi as a child.) So you can become more sensitive to items later in life. He just has IBS from it, which isn't fun at all. So whatever makes him feel better, I'll try. I can eat almost everything, it just requires me to learn new recipes and shopping habits.

I find that yogurt and probiotics (Acidophillis) both help my digestive track when it feels like #######.

Nik I'm lactose intolerant too. And I did read up on like eliminating wheat also. I take a probiotic. It works.

Yeah he can eat yogurt, and it does help. But after a month of eating bascially no wheat, he feels like a normal human. So we'll take that and run. Whatever makes him happy. :) We're searching for a new place to live since this place is too expensive. Even a condo is fine as long as the HOA fees aren't doubling our mortgage. I also want to go back to school but I hate when I send specific questions to a place and they don't answer me specifically. So now I have to call. UGH.

Nik you guys buying yes?

And I hope you do get back to school. Have you decided what you're going for?

I always have yogurt and acidophillis in my fridge now. Some times I feel like #######. I think sometimes my digestive tract is causing my GERD also.
