Actually you can gain title to the land. I was mistaken though, you must live and maintain the land for 15 years in Minnesota. You must live there openly and not be hiding on the land. Funny thing is the one way the owner of the land can prevent you from taking title, is to give you permission to live on the land. They can only gain title through a process call adverse possession.

Yes adverse possession. Now a very complex issue. Many court cases on it. A lotta condition must exist. It's not easy to do. It was a law to ensure the proper use of land that has now evolved into plain fraud.
